Okay since I've really become impatient with valve and their new engine with episode 3, I'm gunna set up a team to make Episode 3 - The Mod

Mod Name: Half-Life 2 Episode 3 - The Mod

Engine: Half-Life 2: Episode 2(Source 2007)


Requirements:

Minimum: 1.7 GHz Single^ Core Processor, 512MB DDR^ RAM, DirectX® 8.1 level Graphics Card (Requires support for SSE), Windows® 7/Vista/XP, Mouse, Keyboard

Recommended: Dual^ Core processor (2.5GHz, or better), 1GB DDR2^ RAM, DirectX® 9 level Graphics Card, Windows® 7/Vista/XP, Mouse, Keyboard


The story:

Half-Life® 2: Episode Three - The Mod extends the award-winning and best-selling Half-Life® adventure without having to wait until 2012,

Dr. Magnusson's son shoots the advisors heads with an extremely-powerful particle gun (something like the particle gun in HL1, just improved) and kills the advisors, Alyx crying in the background, Gordon is half awake, half fainted, Dr. Magnusson's son (lets call him Dori lawl) run towards Eli Vance and checks his pulse, he understands he's dead, whispers something while closing his eyes and runs towards us, Gordon then faints.

Gordon awakes again while carried into a copter-jet (like a futuristic jet that takes off like a heli, with three big "holes" that are actually lifting the jet), he gets a small sight of the jet and faints again.

Gordon wakes, this time he's fully awaken, he's in the chopper lying down on the floor, Alyx sitting near him looking at him with a sad face, she gets excited that Gordon is ok and tells Dori (lawl) and then they both stand up, Alyx talks with Gordon a bit, explaining what happened, then Dori explains more in detail, then he tells them to take a seat and buckle up, they both do that, and the jet goes into a super-like flight mode, and it flies very fast, then some combines come with aircrafts and start shooting at them, Dori tells them to grab their weapons from the box near them and fight back, in the end they crash-land on an abonded road after they lost the combines, and Gordon faints.

After waking up, Gordon looks to the left and see's the ruined Aperture Science laboratories, Dori and Alyx says something about that, and then they go towards the laboratory, suddenly they see Chell dead on the floor with the ruined portal gun on her hand, Dori says he should fix this while Gordon and Alyx should go through the laboratories to their target, Dori then runs to the crashed jet, shouting that he will come pick up them after he fixes everything, Gordon and Alyx enter the laboratories, Alyx says something in a scared tone, and then they do some puzzles in there, fight some stuff, reveal some secrets and in the end they have an epic fight with GLaDOS that teleports them to a breaking cliff and they need to fight on falling rocks very high above a lake, after a while of fighting, Dori comes and drops them a jetpack, Gordon gets the jetpack, he takes Alyx and they both "jump" (more like fly) towards Dori's jet, they hang onto a ladder that's hanging out from the jet and climb up, before Gordon enters the jet, he activates the jetpack and shoot it to GLaDOS head.

I could possibely do voiceovers and SOME modelling. But acting is my strong point since im the best in my drama class :D

Plus I may download some model making software and read some tutorials on making them into sweps and shit!!

With zs screwed up i dont have much pingaz to map fo eet.

However SUMMER is coming up and i have a good 3 months of doing nothing (exept going to a short camp wit ma schul friends and seeing some hot chicks lololooloooooOOOLOO0OL)

Id be happy to do any mapping you may require.

I just got a great idea, make Gordon travel the world to get to Borealis, make him go through Argentina so Frank will be able to voice a guy there, or maybe also make him pass through Israel and I'll voice someone there xD

And in the end he will reach Borealis and do whatever he needs to do there.

By doing that you can make different kind of monsters, NPC's, cities, vehicles, etc.  though most probably it will take lots of time =\

okay it wasnt glass it was wood. and maybe there is the security monitors like with the antlion guard. its open for discussion.

but was the animation good at all?

okay over the past two days ive been testing and perfectin an animation for the ep3 cutscene buisness!
I made this into a AVI file for those who dont have the program. Download this and watch it. Maybe we can animate/sourceSDK it into there?

Because after Vance daddy dies they remember they have to find the borealis so they take a helicopter to it but u could make like a private jet...

Ok, I had this awesome idea at night, here comes lawl (It's without the talking and detailed stuff)

Dr. Magnusson's son (me) shoots the advisors heads with an extremely-powerful particle gun (something like the particle gun in HL1, just improved) and kills the advisors, Alyx crying in the background, Gordon is half awake, half fainted, Dr. Magnusson's son (lets call him Dori lawl) run towards Eli Vance and checks his pulse, he understands he's dead, whispers something while closing his eyes and runs towards us, Gordon then faints.

Gordon awakes again while carried into a copter-jet (like a futuristic jet that takes off like a heli, with three big "holes" that are actually lifting the jet), he gets a small sight of the jet and faints again.

Gordon wakes, this time he's fully awaken, he's in the chopper lying down on the floor, Alyx sitting near him looking at him with a sad face, she gets excited that Gordon is ok and tells Dori (lawl) and then they both stand up, Alyx talks with Gordon a bit, explaining what happened, then Dori explains more in detail, then he tells them to take a seat and buckle up, they both do that, and the jet goes into a super-like flight mode, and it flies very fast, then some combines come with aircrafts and start shooting at them, Dori tells them to grab their weapons from the box near them and fight back, in the end they crash-land on an abonded road after they lost the combines, and Gordon faints.

After waking up, Gordon looks to the left and see's the ruined Aperture Science laboratories, Dori and Alyx says something about that, and then they go towards the laboratory, suddenly they see Chell dead on the floor with the ruined portal gun on her hand, Dori says he should fix this while Gordon and Alyx should go through the laboratories to their target, Dori then runs to the crashed jet, shouting that he will come pick up them after he fixes everything, Gordon and Alyx enter the laboratories, Alyx says something in a scared tone, and then they do some puzzles in there, fight some stuff, reveal some secrets and in the end they have an epic fight with GLaDOS that teleports them to a breaking cliff and they need to fight on falling rocks very high above a lake, after a while of fighting, Dori comes and drops them a jetpack, Gordon gets the jetpack, he takes Alyx and they both "jump" (more like fly) towards Dori's jet, they hang onto a ladder that's hanging out from the jet and climb up, before Gordon enters the jet, he activates the jetpack and shoot it to GLaDOS head.

That's my idea, though there's alot more, I just want to see if you like it first and then post the rest xD

ok if we are going to use the idea we need
  • Model for Jetpack and model for futuristic plane
  • Magnusson son (make it an npc_citizen, while i get a skin for it
  • Import Portal props and portal gun
  • I suggest we use a gravity 200 or something for Jetpack
  • Some damn good mapmakers and hax
  • new weapon???
I will look for an futuristic skin and change the impact/shoot effects

We sure need new creaturs/combines, so making them would be cool, especially the Combine Assassin, I'm 99% sure that I will write a couple of scenes with it, and about your idea, don't worry, I'll come up with something even better =P
I have so many epic ideas lawl, not sure if all of them could be made, or at-least not as I want it to look like, Source engine is very limited =\

It's only limiting for those with limited ideas  ;)

But for the mega hdr stuff, the super florescent hdr doesn't really make sense unless the room is hazy or something like that. So it looks kinda... out-of-place to me. But if you guys really want to get this mod to completion, get a basic version of everything made first, so then you have somthing completed, then go back through and add in all your fancy things you have planned.

It's only limiting for those with limited ideas  ;)

But for the mega hdr stuff, the super florescent hdr doesn't really make sense unless the room is hazy or something like that. So it looks kinda... out-of-place to me. But if you guys really want to get this mod to completion, get a basic version of everything made first, so then you have somthing completed, then go back through and add in all your fancy things you have planned.

After the incident near the helicopter, Gordon wakes up in a helicopter over the Arctic Ocean,

the course? Borealis, or the last known location of it.
Little do they know that the combine have been carefully observing them nearing to the Borealis

facility.
Near the edge of the island where Borealis was supposed to be, the group encounters a large

group of combine helicopters, which are escorting 4 combine dropships to the island. Curious

why the combine are there they decide to follow them, but something dark happens, a small

pulse from the middle of the island shuts down their systems and the helicopter makes a crash

landing. As soon as Gordon regains consciousness, and tries to observe his surroundings he

finds out that he has been imprisoned by the combine, and stripped of all his weaponry, even

the Gravity Gun. Gordon finds a small stash in the middle of the wall which contains a crowbar

and a headcrab. After defeating the small headcrab Gordon breaks out of the cell he was

appointed to and decides to find Alyx, because Alyx has got sensitive information about the

workings of the resistance. After travelling through countless jail blocks he finally finds her,

tortured, tired, beaten up and tied into an integorriation chair in a room. Gordon breaks her free,

hides her into an old service room and heads out to find some medical supplies to cure her.
After attending to the most immediate need of curing Alyx they head out to find an emergency

control room to get some information about why the combine are here, how many of them are

here and where they all are located. Sadly the emergency control room is out of power and

Gordon has to find the power generator and fix it. After that being taken care of Gordon

encounters a combine assasin sent to kill him. Escaping by ventilation shafts Gordon returns to

Alyx to tell her about the encounter. Alyx in the meantime has had the oppurtunity to

communicate with the white forest. Or whats left of it that is, it seems that the combine have

found a way to access the sattelites and ordered an orbital strike on The White Forest.

Alyx thinks up a crazy plan, which includes Gordon infiltrating the hq, finding the power source

and blowing it all up, while Alyx stays behind to coordinate. During the trip to the HQ Gordon

encounters the female assasin again,and thistime defeats her. To successfully infiltrate the HQ

Gordon has to disguise himself as a combine trooper.In the HQ Gordon eavesdrops on a

combine general talking to an advisor who calls himself BREEN. They are talking about a

Combine fleet arriving via a huge portal which is going to be opened with the Borealis, the fleets

purpose? Destroy mankind, and to stripmine the planet.
Now Gordon is headed to the Borealis, fighting through hordes of Combine troopers and a few

occasional Gunships.
When Gordon enters the Borealis he is teleported to an Aperture Lab underground where he

discovers the ruins of GLaDOS. To get back to the Borealis Gordon has to complete a set of

trials in the facility. After completing the first trial Gordon recieves a strange gun.. The PORTAL

gun. Sadly the Portal Gun is a precessor and needs Crystals to operate. With it Gordon opens a

portal to the Borealis where he changes a few parametres in the superportal activation

sequence. On the way back to Alyx Gordon finds a prototype Combine jet which he uses to get

back to Alyx and to get back to the White Forest.
On the way back they suddenly hear a large boom, and when they watch back they see a giant

portal half-way being open pulsing. In the portal they see a large combine fleet and a planet

being sucked away to a singularity. Luckily the singularity does not affect Gordons side of the

portal. After the portal closes the island on which the borealis was suddenly starts vapourising.
When they have returned to the White Forest they find out that all combine activity suddenly

stopped. Everyone who was a combine soldier suddenly turns back to a normal citizen.
After touching down suddenly GMAN appears  in front of everyone and starts talking to Gordon,

and eventually taking Gordon with him.

Nice idea, though you copied some ideas of mine =P
But no need to worry, I'm still working on story, and I think they should have more in-between stops before they reach the Borealis, also, the Borealis is the target, meaning that after Gordon finishes doing what he needs to do there, basicly, the Episode ends =O

I think the borealis pic magic has used looks pretty good

what did you have in mind?
 I pretty much finished the brushwork of the oil rig map

[note] these are just outlines and i have yet to put in more smaller details.
I was thinking they could circle around then land in the front then go down inside where map changes, then when come back outside it changes map back to outside version.

I think the borealis pic magic has used looks pretty good

what did you have in mind?
 I pretty much finished the brushwork of the oil rig map

[note] these are just outlines and i have yet to put in more smaller details.
I was thinking they could circle around then land in the front then go down inside where map changes, then when come back outside it changes map back to outside version.

It doesn't JUST fly like a plane but ALSO flies with jet engines being propelled flying almost as if it was a heli.
Those things lift straight up, land straight down, can land like a normal plane, and lean left and right.   all while being stationary

Where did this jet heli come from and how does it relate to the hl2 series in terms of theme and technology? (basically what im saying is i dont think its very hl2-ish)

I will put a warning in about adding in new vehicles. It's easy to re-skin vehicles, but creating a whole new vehicle type in source is rather difficult. So unless you have a reasonably talented C++ programmer with you, I'd shy away from creating new vehicles.

I did ask krasher to mod the original heli in the ending of ep2 to blades open and spinning, I don't know what he's doing though...

Yeah alright, At first I had just installed hl: ep2 but haven't actually ran it. So i installed the mod and it was crashing. figured since i hadn't actually ran hl ep2 maybe that was the problem. so i ran ep2 and re-installed the mod... and!     no luck -_-   still crashed.. Pretty background and all though.

ep3_intro.bsp is teh problem


after i made a change to fix a spawn bug, it wouldn't run again, so i ditched it and am now using ep3_intro_alt


just delete it and rename ep3_intro_alt to ep3_intro

Mk well I got it to load but i think something is still wrong lol. The menu starts and then if i wait too long the menu fades away and intro starts. then if i hit escape menu comes up. and i hit new game. nothing. (which is understandable) then i hit load game and tried both of the pre-loaded autosave files. one is me stuck under some displacement and alyx is on top of a hill. and the other is where i drop and looks like im in flatgrass with some hl2 prefabbed towers and what i think is trucks. and a scanner floating around. thats my experience. please tell me were doing better than that guys :(   oh and intro was sweet btw.

If anyone is making a trailer let it be me. But right now.. There's not really any material to work with yet. We need some awesome material to make a good trailer to bring people into trying it. I mean that's how trailers work anyway (they fucking ruin the movies) lol.

Ya I forgot to clean sav's before I uploaded + ep3_01 was just me testing the level transitioning, Jim has the real ep3_01, But he got pc problems

That's right 2 pcs being fixed to recover my files. Right now I'm fixing up my older laptop but I'm unsure wether to install sdk since it screwed the other 2. If this one fails too I won't do source sdk mapping anymore.

That would make jimonions... not jimoinions anymore :( your right. don't install it on your  laptop though. just wait for your pc's back cause it may not be sdk. it may be some kind of registry problem. which is usually the case with most problems. (At least with my experience)
