DOTA (Defense of the Ancients) is a real-time strategy gamemode for wcIII, DOTA 2 is a extension (obviously) to that.
DOTA 2 is going to be (most likely) the same as DOTA with new UI, characters, stand-alone (completely new game).

Yeah I watched before, its pretty crazy and nice graphics. But I never did really play dota since most hosts would kick you out for downloading (which I downloaded from site) and I really couldn't understand what should be done first since the maps are so detailed and advanced vs other maps. If I went back to wc3 now though, I'm sure I could understand what needs to be done first and such.
