An item shop
« on: April 24, 2011, 03:43:58 PM »

The title of this post basically represents what I am about to say.

I am requesting an item shop for ALL or at least some servers people mostly play in (TTT, ZS, FRETTA).

The item shop will have the following categories:
-Hats (it would look good on you ;3)
-Trails (trails would be pretty cool); Edit: Concerned of lag
-Masks[?] (to cover your identity or something)
-Body accessories[?] (Ex: such as you wearing a tie)
-Heads[?]
-Models[?]

The point system:
5 points for 30 minutes or 1 hour of gametime in servers (All, which means that all servers would have this)
10 points for 300 zombies killed (Zombie Survival)
10 points for 100 traitors killed (Trouble in Terriost Town)
1 point if you complete a run in deathrun (Fretta)
1 point per minute (ALL)

Question: I do not know if your character customization is 1 per server or for entire servers (such as, if you buy a hat in the ZS server, will you be able to keep the hat if you go to other servers [Fretta, TTT, WS, Sled Build, etc.]?)

Ideas for each category (ex: What to put in the hat section) is up to the Admins.

You can give me ideas and I will add them into this post.

PS - Items in the shop would of course be bought at a high price...I'm thinking 50 points for the cheapest hat. 1000+ points for the most expensive.

*IDEAS*
-A point per 30 minutes
-2 points for a completed run (Deathrun/Fretta)
-Points exchanged into Karma (TTT)
-"Also they could change money at flood for points. And they should add other skins like Dead Space Suit!" (Fretta + All?)
-What you buy shouldn't affect gameplay (ALL)
-NO TRAILS (ALL)
-"being able to buy a hat every 30 kills is fair."(Zombie Survival...?)
-Item shop will sell custom/non-custom models (ALL)
-1 point per minute...so the models, hats, etc., would cost in the thousands if this is added. (ALL)

~Concerns~
-Increased AFK/Idles
Solution: The mighty AFK-kicker/Auto-kick

-No point in this.
Solution: Don't even bother buying one of these accessories or even using these when they come out then. These are optional and many people would love having these.

-U IZ COPY1NG 0TH3R S3RV3R$
Solution: Yeah, no. Many, many, MANY, other servers have these and guess what; they get more people coming back to their servers.

-Increased RDM in TTT
Solution: Call for a VIP/Admin or report them = easy ban.

Conclusion is basically this at the moment:

-NO TRAILS AT ALL
-Hats, masks, models, heads, etc., passed the test
-Since it is 1 point per minute, then most things would be costed in the hundreds-thousands.

-^SHEEPS POINT SYSTEM FOR TTT^-

Here is a more effective score for my thought about it. Comment on it how you think.
-Increments-
Traitor kill Detective = 5
Traitor kill 2 Innocents = 1
Detective kill Traitor = 3
Innocent kill Traitor = 1

-Deductions-
Traitor kill Traitor = -6
Detective kill Innocent = -3
Detective kill Detective = -6
Innocent kill Innocent = -4
Innocent kill Detective= -6
Traitor damage Traitor > 50 = -8
Detective damage Detective > 50 = -8
Detective damage Innocent > 50 = -3
Innocent damage Innocent > 50 = -2
Innocent damage Detective > 50 = -8

-Enhancements- (ex. innocent kill 2 traitors no innocents no detectives = 8 (1+1+6) )
Innocent kill 2 Traitors no Innocents or Detectives = 6
Detective kill 2 Traitors no Innocents or Detectives = 5
Traitor kill 3 Innocents no Traitors = 4
Traitor kill 2 Detectives no Traitors = 6

Item Store:
-Base Item Costs-
Hats = 30
Feet = 30
Shoulders = 50
Waist = 50
Chest = 80

These values will be added onto the prop you purchase ex:
Saw-blade is 5 points you buy it and you can put it on all slots, but to do that you have to buy the slots on the saw-blade so total cost examples would be: 35 for hat 35 for feet 55 shoulders 55 waist 85 chest.

I typed the item store values off top my head as well but sounds effective to me. The real question is, who will be coding this haha.

Shops with hats and such always seem to make the server laggier.
Not to mention how pointless they are.

But it's for creativity and many people would like these point shops :[

Also, many people in-game have seen JMan's Santa Hat and they kept asking how did he get it...so I just decided to come up with the point shop; it gives an opportunity to them. The point shops would also attract/increase loyal people.

I just editted something in my "PS" right when you commented :3

Nope, I meant that other people should get the opportunity to "customize" themselves too. It expresses who they are :).

I just realised.

Whatt he says is true.

Not only there will be more lag, but this will increase the download time for the guys joining the servers, since they have to DL the hat models, trails, and all that shiz, so it won't really be ''Fast DL''. Plus, I find this copies Sassilation. I've changed my vote to  :thumbsdown:

Ty for reminding me cable.

What servers have you been to that you didn't need to download? The servers that need to download are worth it. I didn't expect the "lagging" part though...I've been to a server which had like 1000 downloads needed and I didn't lag at all o-o.
Also, what's "Sassilation"? Is it a server with a point shop? If so, then that is not the only server that consists a point shop you know. o.o

No, they won't. The hat's tend to be props from CSS or HL2, and would require no extra download. The code itself is all server-side. FastDL just means that the download content is hosted on a webserver. It's a "Fast Download", not a "Small Download".
It would cause a bit more lag on the server though, due to the fact it's using that much more of the servers (And clients) resources.
