Aslong as it can play fine and sound fine without strings breaking... too often... I'm cool with it :D

Go with a Squier they are a good entry level Guitar/Bass company.

I paid $199 + $30 for my squire. But it was sorta worth it because it had custom pickups/pickguard/sparkle silver finish.

But my first guitar was an Epiphone Les Paul Junior. It was around $100. You can try this out if you want to get into guitar rather than bass.
