Har you go. Since £100 = $160, this guitar could do nicely for you. Then of-course, this is a new one. The site which I linked you to, guitar center, also ships to the UK/Europe last time I checked. So it may cost more £ for shipping costs.

But I don't really think there are many bass's under £100 for you. But if you save up to £230 or so (equivalent to $360 USD), you could pick up one of these:

You can start on cheap fender knockoffs.
That's what I had for 3 years, it wasn't the best but it served me well.
It was around $150 US. Came with an amp though.
Next step should be determined by your style of playing and comfort. (Comfort meaning size weight etc. I got an ibanez, which has a much smaller fretboard)

Actually, Deacon is right. What playing style do you prefer?

Beh, I'm not sure how a Ibanez handles for rock, so ask deacon about it. He has one. I'd just prefer one of those used, fender affinity bass's. They're pretty cheap and in good quality.

several examples. just set to your price range, look at all the solid body fenders

if you can, do guitar. its simple enough to learn basic bass techniques that you can switch. but if you switch back to bass, please, learn to use your fingers. you can only do so much with a pick

OOO
Just my preference, I like the 2nd one alot...
also, it has a review, the other one only got 4 stars because a guy was frustrated with some other company.

your choice lol, but i think with the first you may be paying for the bodywork (the fancy shape and all)
