Next step should be determined by your style of playing and comfort. (Comfort meaning size weight etc. I got an ibanez, which has a much smaller fretboard)
Full size, weight doesn't bother me
"normal" size fretboard ;3
style of playing liek wut, slow fast or ... ?
Like, do you play in a metal style or rock or jazz style?

several examples. just set to your price range, look at all the solid body fenders
if you can, do guitar. its simple enough to learn basic bass techniques that you can switch. but if you switch back to bass, please, learn to use your fingers. you can only do so much with a pick
Magic nids become the next Jimi Hendrix and play with his teeth.
Jaxville decent?
don't hold me to that. lol it just looks like my first, so naturally i'm drawn towards it

Aslong as it can play fine and sound fine without strings breaking... too often... I'm cool with it :D

Go with a Squier they are a good entry level Guitar/Bass company.

I just got an ibanez for 200$ a few weeks ago
I paid $199 + $30 for my squire. But it was sorta worth it because it had custom pickups/pickguard/sparkle silver finish.
But my first guitar was an Epiphone Les Paul Junior. It was around $100. You can try this out if you want to get into guitar rather than bass.
