To prevent further derailing, lets move dis shit here.

Did your schools do anything relating to 9/11, like assemblies or videos?

Yep, sadly.

Honestly we get it, 9/11 sucked and it was a dark moment for america.
But fuck we can just move on to something else? It's been 10 years since that happened and people
still talk about it?

Pearl Harbor.
Point being, people will always bring it up.

My school did jack shit for 9/11 besides some kids making a joke about how the twin towers got stoned and tipped over.

My school is stupid.
Thanks Marie

Announcement over PA with speech and moment of silence. Then everyone was given a sticker of the flag. Personally, and for some reason, I have a phobia of stickers and they disgust me :/

Moment of silence, the flag lowered halfway, and a 'spooky' story from a teacher who remembers where they were when it happened.
A Man named William Reed's last living testament says that he is going to read his own will.

Will Reed's will will read "Will Reed will read Will Reed's will"

An event that revolutionized the worlds outlook on internal security and the potential for terrorist attacks, how to stop them, etc. Paving the way for many of the worlds super powers large increase in pro-active and reactive measures. Not to mention it was the largest terrorist attack in the history of the world in terms of death toll and I believe there was 30 or so canadians that contributed to that toll. Also Canada participated, though as a secondary support role, in the "war on terrorism" providing air support, basing, and intel. Regardless of what other ulterior motives you believe fueled the war, the official reasoning was a war on terrorism as a result of 9/11. So feel free not to hang your head in silence for our, or your country men and women, but don't deny the importance of this event and the impact to the global population as a whole and its importance to a student body.

9/11 created a paranoid government that arrested and ruined the lives and career of slightly 'suspicious' American citizens for literally no crime, caused the internet's freedom and anonymity to be sacrificed in the name of national security and allowed unjust racism against middle eastern people by both the government and fellow citizens alike.

The impact was entirely negative and very little was learned or acknowledged as to why 9/11 happened in the first place

This guy guest visited our church and told us the story of how, if he hadn't accidentally shot himself the day before when testing guns at the FBI or some shit, he would have been the pilot of the plane that flew into the south tower. Instead a close friend of his went as the pilot, and he was eventually brought in to identify his friends voice. It was really sad to hear.

so im just going to copy-paste this from the other thread

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
While those events were terrible, the amount of innocent Iraqi citizens that were killed in the name of 'American Justice' dwarfs the amount of people killed on 9/11. Is it really worth about half a million innocent civilians to invade and occupy a country for a whole decade? Not to mention because of this war, the US is deeply in debt. Not to mention the big brother-esque Patriot Act. All in the name of freedom and justice.

Honestly, would you rather have 3,000 American deaths, or 100,000-500,000 Iraqi (Civilian) deaths?

Blind, brain-washed patriotism is the worse example. Especially in certain cases with troop supporters.

I love you.

My jimmies get rustled whenever someone implies America was the complete innocent in 9/11. It wasn't. It was a provoked attack because of the extended American policies and operations in the middle east.

And before someone assumes that I'm saying that the USA deserved the 3000 deaths of 9/11, they weren't. America deserved it, however the American civilians didn't.

9/11 imo was done by the government. For a couple of reasons.

1.New security act.

2.Population control

3.A reason to attack the middle east.
