Even if this passes, people will always find a way around it.
And the piracy is already all round the internet, it is impossible to stop it.
I would only give it a few months.
But SOPA allows for the whole website to be taken down, as opposed to individual torrents and links. SOPA also allows American internet blacklisting, the same kind of internet censorship the Chinese use to block certain sites. If the bill is passed, and you one day decide to go on utorrent, the site will be blocked with the big American eagle on it saying that the site is not allowed for blah reasons
Also, remember the bill that is being pushed behind SOPA. ProtectIP which aims to do exactly that, stop piracy in the most invasive way possible..
No no... Before SOPA people were allowed to use game/movie
copyrighted footage/video to do whatever, such as movie and game reviews, mashups, montages, etc and that was allowed under the American Constution. With SOPA, the companies have the right to:
1. Take whatever video that image is in
2. Shut down the website that is hosted said video
So SOPA effectively shifts the responsibilty for posting copyrighted material from the person, to the host. Which is why it's such a big deal. Youtube, facebook, google, wikipedia, 4chan, reddit, streaming sites, can all be potentially crippled.
