Disk drive failed need new pc

I'm not a hardware expert so I left my dad to do it. He ran a full system scan and the HD is completely toast there's no going back. It could be just a really timely coincidense that both disks happened to crash in the space of just 2 days but he's not convinced sinde he claims his laptop had been running fine for over 4 years without incident. Is it possible that someone has hacked my steam acc and put in some really bad thing? Cus it crashed right when sdk was backing up and copying it's files... I just need to know what could possibly be doing this cus if it is steam then I won be able to make any more maps or in the worst case never play any steam game again. I was thinking either sdk is the problem r me and as a last resort I shud migrate accounts.
Oh and my first one crashed right in the middle of compiling.
Just so you know I'm using my itouch to post nao, this small screen is really giving me a
headache!

i have all my files backup every Tuesday onto my portable 2 TB hard drive i have a total of 10 back up then when it backs up the last one deletes and then t gets saved on it

Took computer in and turns out there is a virus that rewrote the bios setup and hid the disk. So that means if my dads friend can fix the laptop then he can also do my desktop and I can get all my files back.
The virus was from sdk so don't run it unless you have an anti virus program.
