I would have to say I have spent most of my time on Flood, probably more than any other well known (and I use that loosely) respected.

I would like to compile a list of suggestions, no matter how good or how bad (be serious, I will be able to tell) and add up the numbers, then allow the highest few to be voted on.

Rules need to be changed, I cannot possibly stress that enough, even with a giant megaphone attached to a steel toe boot; the rules need to change.

Maps cannot simply be added without full testing to ensure they cannot be abused.

-The jeep in grass needs to be removed.
-Raise the water level in RND so that it reaches all the way to the bottom, and if possible, remove the outside or make the glass thicker.
-Canal is easy to glitch but I don't see any way to stop it.

All the other maps I have not been able to glitch into.

VIP
I have seen MULTIPLE threads asking if we could have a VIP rank in the servers, the problem was that it was not clearly laid out, or it was poorly written.

I think VIP would undoubtely SAVE this situation in flood -ONLY- if given to the correct people. FURTHERMORE: being a VIP would put you on a probationary period in which being reported (with a video, steam ID, AND chat log) would most INDEFINITELY result in you being demoted.

That said, I suggest that IF ONLY, VIPs would be able to instantly kick without a time limit. Personally, if somebody was being an asshole but technically not doing anything wrong, I would VOTE to kick them, and let the server decide. THIS would most UNDOUBTELY -END- money rounding as long as a VIP was present.

Some people who could be VIP:
KRASHER: He is TOP VOTE right now to be an admin, and this could be a way to show he's up for it.
PHROZENFOX: Of course me, I suggested it. But furthermore, I am 19, I think I am old and mature enough for a responsibility such as this, and I've been getting so tired of money rounding, I've made an entire thread about it.
SHAWN: Even though I've just met him, I can tell he is most definitely mature enough to handle a position of such power.
JIM-ONIONS: He does not put up with money rounding or glitching, even when I did it, just to scout for glitchers, he made certain I would not forget how intent he was on stopping it.
BOAT SINKER: He's been around for a long time, and his name implies he really cares about flood.
TIGER GUY: I have not seen him do wrong, and he shrugs off insults rather well.

I would suggest FRANK, but as of late he has stopped caring about RND, certainly I would put him right up top with KRASHER if he were to change his attitude.

RULES:
The rules need to be changed.

Obviously, the first one: Do not shoot the boat you are on. Do not jump off the boat you were on and start shooting it.
Oh, I am going to leave the server, so I'm just going to ruin it for everybody. I don't think so buddy.

Respect the respected and Admins (and VIPS if added) They're here to moderate the server, not try to ruin your fun.

Respected, Admins, (and VIP) cannot give you money, Super Admins -will- not give you money. It's just annoying man.

I will think of some later, I'll also add some that people submit.

Rudimentary Instructions
We need to set up a list of really simple instructions so that newbies can learn how to play flood instead of asking people who are trying to play.
I have seen a lot of newbies join and ask wtf to do, then they leave and never come back.
-Use the prop spawning menu to spawn pieces that you want for your boat.
-Use the nail or rope tool to bind the pieces together.
-Try to knock people off of their boats by shooting at them or their boat.
-The last person alive will get a bonus of $500 and be alive until the next building round.

Something along those lines.

--Frank- Test maps before adding This is the problem we have with Grass, RND and Canal.
Make a weekly deep research about the maps. See if there's a way to glitch, or whatever. No secret rooms, admin rooms, any kind of shit like that. That only creates disturbs and arguings. I agree completely, there will always be new glitches, but I think Respected and VIP should be able to find that easily enough. Perhaps we could have a "Report a glitch" subforum?
--Shawn- People become respected to get advanced dupe in Wire, perhaps have another group to have advanced dupe? Sounds like a good idea, but I think VIP is the only other available group.
--Tiger Guy- Make a seperate chat server only Admins and VIP can see (Or respected if VIP isn't added) Great idea. This would ensure that people who are minging are unable to see that they are in any danger, and the colour code system would work ever so much better.
--Boat Sinker- press f1 = flood tutorial (in words) An intuitive way to get help, F1, would definitely be a lot easier. I find myself having to explain the game mode every other hour.
--OSHIT- gravity gun in fight rounds. for pushing your boat around, cause the crowbar is really slow for large ships,
and you could throw explosive barrels during fight round That would be pretty cool, but obviously end in very easily prop pushing people off boats.

I would love Flood to be saved. I really would.
But I just think it isn't as simple as it sounds.
About the VIP thing. Sure, you say now "oh, it will save everything, if given to the right person.". Well, who decides who is the right person? It's the same thing with Respected. Respected is a good thing. IF given to the right person. Is it given to the right person? No, it isn't. How can we be sure that VIP will not end in a wave of VIPtards?
Yes, it can save Flood. But it can also end in a disaster, that's all I'm saying.
I agree with the Rule change, just not with the you have to respect respected-thingie. How can you respect a "respected" that calls you a pusymotherfuckinghomofagretard all the time? Correct, you can't. But that's just unimportant, I completely agree with this section.
And I agree 100% with the Map thing. If coolz doesn't have the time to check out all maps, he can give them to the community. It's retarded how many glitchy maps there are, especially fm_grass which was recently put on again. Lua errors, "secret" room everyone knows about, etc. It's just stupid.

But meh, I stopped really caring about Flood quite some time ago, I would love to be able to actually build boats and enjoy Flood again. I would also love to be a person you can actually respect on Flood again. But it sure isn't making that an easy thing AT ALL. What Flood really needs is an Admin that is actually active on Flood. And no, there is no one so far.

Reason why alot of respected are morons is because they wanted respected just to get advance dupe in wire... then they noticed "Oh i can kick people from all servers YAY!" How about make a simple group that would give people advance dupe just for wire... and not have all the "respected" tools

And How about show respect to those that show you it?

2. Make a chat that only VIP/Admins can see all over the rnd servers (/911 or something like that to call for help) so that they can see it, and go to the server that needs help.

Ahh yes, I was just grabbing the first person I saw for VIP, I doubt that's going to be like, THE VIP LIST, but alright.

Come on guys, if you have some good suggestions this might actually happen. We need to upload videos and stuff, pictures, etc and put them in here.

The evidence must be so devestating that Coolz/Ruben poop themselves and fix it.

We have discussed this many times before. VIP is not happening, please stop asking about it.

Instead the whole respected system will be redone, It's already on the list of items to be completed.

Just be patient.


The main problem with flood at the moment, is we don't have anyone available to work on it. As far as finding evidence that there are problems with flood Ruben and Coolz already know there are serious problems with it, that's not the issue. The issue is having enough time to recode it. Coolz has a list a mile long for other things to do for Rnd. And I think Ruben is off focusing on schooling. And no one has seen or heard from Minic in several months.

So some new coding blood might help the community out a lot.


If you really want to see results on fixing the flood mode. Draw up new ideas on how to make it work better and be more fun in the long term. And start re-coding the flood game-mode from scratch.

Things to consider in the redesign:

1. Be designed in a way as to encourage people building boats
2. Have more balance in the prop selection, there should be more than just 2 or 3 good props to use in boat design
3. Money hording shouldn't be encouraged (ex: really expensive weapons are super overpowered)
4. Try to encorage different boat designs

That's all that comes to my mind at the moment. But basically, just think of all the ways that flood is lame and boring at the moment, and think up a way that will make it fun again. I tend to frown upon RPG systems in games like flood, because it unbalances the game into rich players favor far too much. But that might be what keeps flood so popular for so long is that it does encourage people to play it a lot. But it sure doesn't make it all that much fun.
