For now, I'm still waiting for AMD's competitor to the new intel chips, but the sheer fact that the phenom II's still hold their own against them is something.

Anyways that was an old topic while back. To explain.
Back then Nvidia and ATi used different folding at home methods.
The atoms of the Nvidia ones are much smaller then ones of the ATi.
They released an update to make the atoms bigger for the nvidia card and the numbers changed alot. They pretty much has equal scores really.

This is just what I know. Im not taking sides.

Speaking of 6 core. The AMD X6 cost as much as an Intel 920 p.p
The Intel X6 is out of the question at this point. You can get like 3 AMD X6 with that money.

my dream pc would be

i7 quad
windows 7
16gb ddr3
2x gtx 295
and a mega fast 10 tb hdd

7.1 surround sound and the new 30 inch 3400p moniters they got comeing out or w/e.
