General Chat / Re: H1N1
« on: October 24, 2009, 07:48:51 AM »
I think i might have the h1n1... If i do im going to be 1 of the 3 people that have it in my town

Ya got a bad headache that gets worse when you cough, bad sore throat, high fever, and not much stomach issues (compared to a normal flu)?

To keep the fever down, you can take Tylenol, then 2 hours later take Ibuprofin, then follow with Tylenol again after 2 hours. By alternating them you can keep even a brutal fever down without exceeding the safe dosages (Both of them are fever reducers). Also for fucks sake; don't stop coughing! I know it hurts to cough but that's how the swine flu kills people, your lungs fill with fluid, it builds up and you drown. I think the people that die of this shit are too pussy to cough and clear their lungs. Either that or the imbecil doctors put them in a coma and slap them into a respirator. Out cold = Not clearing our their lungs = Dead.

yea i go to walmart everyday, and buy 300 rounds a week. there is a world wide shortage of ammo, so buy up!!

Yeah no kidding! It's been a real bitch getting powder and primers this last year or two. I've been stockpiling though. I've got a few hundred pounds of lead, just under 10k primers, and about a dozen kegs of various powders, plus 20k or so gas checks. My Marlin 1895CB (45-70 govt) is a real hog on powder though.

and why do u need ammunition :/ its not like a zombie invasion or something lol.
If I do manage to survive (and short of planet-shattering meteorite impact, somebody will), I will still need to feed the family, and provide protection. Desperate people will always try and take what the need to survive. Firearms, and the ability to use them effectively, pretty much assures I'll be keeping what I have or can take.

Even if something crazy happens and the planet freaks out, some of us will inevitably survive. We're like cockroaches. Even worse really. We've spread over more of the earth than they have, plus into space.

Hell, it might even be fun to try and survive in a post-apocalyptic world. I'm damn good with old machines (my car is 23 years old and runs like new!), I can build and repair electronics in my sleep, I can manufacture my own ammunition (cast my own bullets, work up my own powder charges etc..), and that wife of mine is one helluva breeder (I give her one pop without birth control and she's prego  :P.. easy pregnancies, healthy babies, all boys so far too!).

Meh.. Either way, it'll all work out.

Well, it wouldn't be the first time a vaccine has had 'unforeseen consequences'. The smallpox vaccine, when it was first made, was distributed all over the world.

Instead of shipping tons of the vaccine to labs all over the world though, they shipped small vials and allowed local labs to grow more on site. One asshat doctor named Hilary Koprowski had a site in the congo. Normally, these local labs would collect kidneys from lower monkeys to produce tissue culture (in which to grow more live vaccine). Hilary Koprowski however didn't have access to monkeys there in the congo and instead of importing what he needed, he used the local chimp population instead. The high-order primates carried a virus that attacked their immune systems. This virus survived the culturing process of the vaccine and was injected into hundreds of thousands of local villagers when Koprowski began rounds of mandatory vaccinations on the local populace. Within a few months, the first cases of AIDs in humans were recorded in the local area.

The polio vaccine, and the dumb-ass piss-poor penny-pinching bullshit behavior of this Hilary Koprowski fucker is directly responsible for the introduction of AIDs into humans.

Trust doctors, but only to a point. It's part of their job to act like they know what they're doing. They're human and make mistakes too.. Except for Hilary Koprowski. He needs to be beaten to death with a blunt object for his maliciously negligent behavior.

I know it sounds like just another bogus conspiracy theory. Generally I'm a skeptic about this kind of thing but there is just so much evidence to support this chain of events. Interviews have been done of the lab-workers there in the Congo. They all support that chimps were captured, butchered, and used to produce vaccine. Even early letters and documents from Koprowski himself freely admitted that he was using chimps. It was only after someone raised concerns of disease transmission did Koprowski clam up and deny everything. Of course the scientific community, who wants to keep people from being fearful of vaccinations, stood behind Koprowski and helped suppress any real investigation. When Koprowski dies after a long, rich life, I'm betting this support will evaporate and the truth will be allowed to come to the forefront. Maybe the mysteriously 'missing' samples of the batches he produced might show up so we can test and know for certain.

General Chat / Fookin swine flu!!
« on: September 30, 2009, 02:06:02 PM »
Well damnit.. We caught the swine flu.. First I get a call from my sons kindergarten a couple weeks ago. He was running a 102 fever and had a bad headache. I drove on over and picked him up, brought him home, gave him some tylenol and put him to bed for a few hours. About that time the next day, I started feeling like shit. Aches and pains all over. Moderate fever. Wicked headache. After another day, me and my boy are running 104+ fevers, feel like our heads are gonna pop, and were just generally miserable. It went on like this for days.. Fevers would spike up to 104 or 105 as soon as the ibuprofen or acetaminophen would wear off..

Now I went and got the vaccine for the seasonal flu a month or two ago, so if it wasn't H1N1, I shoulda been immune. Also neither of us had any of the intestinal issues you'd normally see with a flu, which also points to H1N1. On top of that, we got the severe headaches that swine flu causes. We're damned lucky my wife and our 9 month old baby didn't catch it too.

It's been nearly 2 weeks and I'm still running a 100 fever off and on but my son Luke seems to be over it and is back at school. I feel better I guess but jeez, this shit has been a nightmare. I can see why it kills people. Your throat gets damn sore which makes you not want to cough. Also coughing makes the headache a few hundred times more painful. Because of these 2 things, people avoid coughing all that crap up and outta their lungs. It builds up and eventually they start having trouble breathing and it's downhill from there.

Fookin swine flu!! >:(

I don't think I've ever seen such a clear and straightforward description of administering a server before.. Bravo dude!

SO THIS TOPIC IS OVER?

Bah! Even if he already bought a new system, the old one is still sitting there. If it can be fixed for cheap/free, well.. 2 working systems is better than one right?

A lotta machines don't come with beepers anymore (just like the occasionally still useful floppy drives). I guess the manufacturers don't figure the home user is going bother with troubleshooting and a professional tech can just plug one in as needed.

If you want to see if the system is salvageable you can strip down the board, leaving one stick of memory, processor (and fan), power and header connections, and an old PCI gfx card. Slap a monitor on the gfx cards port and fire it up. If it gives you a POST screen, the systems still good. If not, take it out with the trash.

Even if it's dead, you should certainly keep the hard drive, power supply, maybe even the memory and optical drives. You can use the old hard drive in your new system for additional storage or backups and the rest of the parts make great spares since they're pretty standard across modern computers. If the memory is the same type, you can upgrade your new machine further with it.

Im also with this, tough then all minges will become respected to play on the server =\   and its easy to be one...

Damn.. I've been trying to get respected for ages now. Maybe just unlucky..

It sounds like a good idea to me. Most people don't enjoy minging enough to go through all that trouble each time they get banned. My only concern is the extra work this would mean for the admins and maybe for the unlucky bastards like me that miss out on getting respected all the time.  :D

Did you try swapping out the gfx card? If the GPU dies, the bios will freak out and give an error code (usually beep pattern). Since that's where the problem started, thats the first thing that should be tested.

« on: September 24, 2009, 08:28:32 PM »
I never could get into flood. It's always the same thing with it.. 8 Guys get on somebodys boat. They shoot at the 2 other people that built their own. Once they sink 'em, they argue about jumping off, ban threats fly, and I get bored and go eat brains in the ZS server.

I wish there was something that could be done to improve the gamemode. I heard something about making other peoples props damage you when you touch them but then images of minges trapping and prop-killing people during the build stage come to mind.. I dunno. Just something to break up the little teams that inevitably form.

My god man, you've done one helluva turnaround in your demeanor. I'm not angry with you, or even pissy in the slightest. I have hosted and administered dozens of servers over the years and know all too well the potential damage that a loose-cannon admin can do to a community. Just trying to do the right thing for everybody here.

People vote yes on votebans for a simple reason: Now that only respected players can initiate them, they figure there's a good reason for the vote and hit 'yes' by default. It doesn't occur to most players that somebody could become respected without being respectful.

Also you didn't address the original point. Your disruptiveness in the server.
