It could have been, although they are only a phishing company that sends out spam messages, however anything is possible over the internet these days, however there was a steam update like 3 days ago, although it doesn't mention any security patches, they could have patched existing security holes or created them by "Matchmaking & networking improvements for Dead Island".
However this is pure speculation and I do not know the full picture.
I speculate that the email they used on godaddy is a fake, to cover up their tracks, however who knows? I mean they are hiding behind two fake companies, DMsheffield is much different to Cloveebiz Enterprises, however you could always try.
