I was afraid of addressing this problem, but fuck it.

Basically, after SteamPipe Update for Garry's Mod, it has taken 5 minutes to load my Garry's Mod up. What makes it worse is that if an addon is being updated or downloaded, it will take even longer to load the menu. Hell even when I load a map or even exit the game, it takes an extra 5 minutes to load up or get out. I would have to open up Task Manager to exit the hl2.exe process to get out faster. I was afraid that I was going to bring this up because I don't know if the problem is my P.C. I have an Alienware Laptop and people give severe criticism to Alienware owners. I acknowledge that Alienware is a piece of overpriced garbage and I regret buying it. I purchased this PC however when I was 13 years old and at the time, I didn't know anything about PCs. Anyway, I'm getting sick of this. I don't know why is it doing this. Is it my PC, or my router, or something? It's weird with other games that have SteamPipe and the Steam Workshop, they seem to load fast(Eg. L4D2, CSGO). Garry's Mod however is the only on has problems. I also want to address that I have a lot of downloaded. However, I unsubscribed to all the addons and it didn't make a difference from there. Hell I even have a lot addons downloaded from L4D2, and I still no problems there. I've had this problem for months now and I need to do something about it. Anyone willing to help or give me advice?

My PC Specs:
Model: 2011 Alienware M14x
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT 555M
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30 GHz
Memory: 6.00 GB Ram (5.95 usable)
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate

It'd likely just be the slow harddrive loading everything up. just fresh install the game(rename the gmod folder in /common/ and relaunch steam then reinstall gmod

So you want me to rename the Gmod folder to any name in /common/, and relaunch Steam to reinstall gmod? I don't know if I should do that since the last time I remember doing this it didn't work. Also, I have some addons and content in my Gmod folder that isn't downloaded directly from the workshop. I don't know if the reinstall deletes it. Also I don't think its a slow hard drive, otherwise it would take a lot time to load up CSGO and L4D2 since they have a lot of addons downloaded.

I can confirm that the menu loads slower when there have been gmod addon updates.

I would try the new installation magic was describing, but keep the gma's in the addons folder so it doesn't attempt to redownload etc.

Could be one particular addon, group of addons, could be that gmod is more fragmented than your other games and at a slower location on the drive.

Gmod isn't known for it's efficiency; the servers experience much longer load times since the gma addon support with steampipe which I have compensated for.

Every time you download Garry's Mod illegally, Garry makes a bug.

When people ask me "Plz" because its shorter than "Please" I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because its shorter than "Yes".
