Herpes is not curable since it is a virus. It is treatable, the virus will always be in your body, just be dormant.

To avoid an argument over semantics, I was referring to 'curing' the symptoms, yes the virus that causes shingles will remain in your body, however what I meant was that he won't be living with the symptoms for the rest of his life.

You can get herpes by just sharing things that had contact with someone with herpes.

Okay I didn't mean to make this thread into a joke just read the comments fk.

We were discussing this in my genetics class, actually.
Turns out, it'd be extremely odd for somebody to NOT have Herpes of some sort. Most people get it from their mothers during breast feeding. Basically, if you've ever had random sores on any part of your body, and if the sores consistently appear at the same general area, it's Herpes.
tl;dr Herpes isn't just sex, and most people have it without being aware of said fact.
