do you realize how much energy you have to waste to get a ball moving at 700 fps?

and then how far off target that ball will go because its a ball

It will take 2.72 joules to propel a .12g ball to 700 FPS. And then the ball will go around 96.13 meters, given perfect conditions.

Also, since these are little plastic balls, the slightest breeze will probably throw them a few feet off target.

It probably wasn't literally 700FPS. The box reviews said 700FPS but it was probably 400 - 550. Plus with the short barrel it won't be all to accurate. All I know is that it felt like having tiny ninjas stab you.

I used to airsoft avidly and really want to get back in to it. We have an outdoor "range" called Mr. Paintball about 20 minutes from me that is downright amazing. Every month they host a major operation which is basically a mission scenario, the last one I participated in was two opposing factions, U.S. military forces and Taliban. Woodland camo was U.S. otherwise Desert Camo and Oddballs (no camo or any other varient) were Taliban. As the taliban our mission was to locate a crashed U.S. Helicopter (They had a real destroyed helicopter was sick as heck). We then had to confirm whether or not the pilot survived and if so capture and interrogate him as well as find the information he was carrying. Afterwords the information detailed American weapon locations and key military structures in the area, we assaulted the positions destroyed or stole the caches and won, the entire event lasted about 10 hours. One of the few problems I have with Airsoft is that yes there is an ability to lie, people who "don't call their hits" are ridiculous but pretty uncommon. However in most serious airsoft games people do because when you're facing a 450 FPS AEG it is rather painful to lie about not getting hit. God I need to get back in to airsofting. Also, a good portion of avid airsofters don't wear any sort of body armor, medics typically wear tactical vests to store their "bandages" and such. I just wear a plain tan tee, a MOLLE chest rig for grenade, spare magazine, and smoke/tactical grenade storage, and Desert BDU pants. Lastly to anyone looking to get in to the "sport", water, lots of fucking water, invest in a Camelback if you don't have one you can get them online for like 20-30 bucks. Being out at least where I'm at, you get dehydrated in a matter of a few hours climbing mountains and running around and such and it is the worst feeling, ever.

My arsenal, just my main weapons sold all my blowback pistols and such since I don't go too much any more.

Damn. Those look pricey. I've got an AK-47 but the shots go 15 meters before blowing away in the wind. So I'm thinking of getting a spring sniper and a C02 M9.

Try using heavier BB's they misfeed much less often, are generally better for the care of your weapon, and tend to be more accurate. I use .25 typically but occasionally I'll go with .20's. If you're getting a high powered sniper which considering it's spring it probably isn't crazy but 500fps+you want to go .28's. At least that's what I've found, increases accuracy and puts the gun at a lower FPS making it less of a safety risk and more largely accepted by airsoft ranges as most of them have a FPS limit.

Edit* Keep in mind not all Airsoft guns can use all BB's typically it'll say in the manual or on the box their restriction if they have one.
