A way to get people to play the new maps

Now first off let me get one thing clear: Once the 'set time' is up, the server is restarted and the maps that were temporarily removed are returned.

What I am suggesting is that (for only about a week) the overplayed maps are removed from the new permanent server so that people will be forced to try newer maps. There are some great maps available that would otherwise rarely be voted because people will vote for the ones that they recognise.

This proposed list of temporarily unavailable maps would include:

Crummycradle
lost_temple
crazycubes
CS:S maps

More maps will be added to that list as more people remind me of the names of other overplayed maps.

EDIT: The server finaly went up so there is no point in doing this.

I have avatars and signatures disabled. There is no reason to judge people here by anything other than what they post.

I really doubt that this would go down...
You do not know how many times stuff like this has been suggested.

I don't see why we keep suggesting the same thing over and over again, like Samo said it's been suggested way too many times and was denied.
It's not going to happen.
Thanks Marie

you 2 know...

The fact of saying "this has been suggested before and no one cared, i don't think this suggestion will work" doesn't help, at all.

now if you say "this have been suggested before and this are the cons of why it didn't passed" is totally different.

also one way to archive something is being insistent.

anyways... when i used to play TTT, i used to vote for the "overplayed" maps because i don't like to sit 5-10 minutes and lose a round while the maps downloads.

anyways, I actually like the idea of this being just for a determined period of time, but a better option to try them all would be to take out the feature of voting and make then change in alphabetical order, just like the old Zs used to do.

Instead of just removing a map fro being overplayed for X amount of time, from the serve, why not just make it so once you pick a map, and it won the vote, it can't be picked again for X mapchanges - make X > the number of overplayed maps though since otherwise it is possible to maintain an infinite loop of overplayed maps.

but we already have that, you can't vote for the same map for like 7-11 rounds right? but there are 7-11 overplayed maps.

For me the quicker solution is just to make maps change without votes in alphabetical order.

So, in that case just boost the number of times a map can't be downloaded to overcome the infinite loop of repeating overplayed maps. :D

I like being able to choose - perhaps do what is done in ZS, have some maps where you CAN vote for the next map, and some where you can't.  :D

I got a better question, why can't it be random? Seems more fun that way than everyone complaining because we play the same damn maps.

Or have it so that:
There are 51 maps
Make it so that the same map cant be chosen for 48 rounds map changes, stopping the fact that it will turn into a infinite circle.

Depending on how long the game stas on that map, that could be a very long time.

Not rounds, I meant map changes, sorry for that mistake I made.

Random would be pretty damn fun.

Although, if there is any buggy or horrible maps, it would be time to remove them now.

Thank you Marie for the sprite.

I like the random idea, but i would want proper random.
after one map has been played, it can be rechosen as soon as the next map is over.

Maybe add a random option to the map vote page?
