While it passed the house, it still has to pass the senate and get to the president and shit, so it's still not in affect...for now.

Well, you know... it won't be in affect ever.

Why do you think that they would publicly tell everyone about this?

It would be done in secret.

This was only publicly "released" to scare people.

Also Mr. Obama will "decline" it = his "respect" will increase.

Idk about the structure of the American government/parliament but... correct me if I'm wrong...
You've just said that house of commons < senate < president?
Correct me if I read that wrong.

It's not "less than", it's tiers.. we call them branches where power is split between. Each one of them is a component in the success or failure of legislation. aka must be approved by each branch. Main braches are judicial (supreme court to overrule federal/state law/etc), executive (president/veto power/etc), legislated (house + senate).

So in this case the bill is still in the legislative.. must pass the second component (senate member vote).. then it will move to executive branch and the president will have power to veto or sign bill into legislation.

Someone can then appeal the legislation if passed and escalate it to the supreme court (which under normal circumstances is almost impossible.. they only take select cases that pose a real dividing line) and then the judicial branch will handle their side.

Correct me if I read that wrong.

The House of Representatives and the Senate make up Congress, our legislative branch. The President makes up the executive branch. The Supreme Court makes up the judicial branch. There's no branch that is more powerful than the other, which is a key factor in our government. When bills are proposed it is first voted on in the House of Representatives, made up of representatives from each state whose size is determined based on state population. If it passes in the House of Representatives, it goes in to be voted on in the Senate, which is comprised of senators representing each state. After a bill is passed in the House of Representatives and the Senate, it goes on to the President. Our constitution gives the President the power of being able to Veto, or deny, certain bills. However, if there is a 2/3 majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate, the President's Veto is nullified.

Hope that helped make things clear lol.

I understand the branches and shit, it's the same in Canada but I believe here the bill goes through the house of commons first, then prime minister, then senate... maybe I'm wrong though idk.

Also, I didn't mean necessarily that the either of those things are better have more power or w.e, just that that's the order the bill gets approved through.

Alright... nvm then.
I thought that the senate was the complete final step here... aside from the governor general/queen.
