So I finally got my new graphics card installed...

Asus GeForce Gt 440 fermi 1GB

It runs FANTASTIC. I can run Skyrim on high settings with no lag at all, APB with above 50 fps all the time, and everything is just good.

Problem though.

The screen went black for about 10 seconds in APB and returned back to normal. I exited APB and felt the air around my cade (It's enclosed excluding the front) and it was kinda warm.

I'm fearing that it may overheat really quickly and I want to know if any of you guys recommend a CPU temp monitoring program or something like that, and how can I make it so that my computer doesn't burst into flames (Not black-screening ;-;)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Big Edit

Alright, this is a really stupid plan but I'm willing to try it if you guys think it's alright.

I looked a few things up and I found a list of promising solutions.
http://www.nvlddmkm.com/

In here, I found a solution that I think might work.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/gaming-software-graphics-cards/261929-disable-powermizer-tested.html

Disabling powermizer. Apparently:"He says that whenever he gets this error, he notices that the core clock changes. The reason for this is that the Powermizer feature downclocks your video card so it would save energy. Perhaps changing clocks in the middle of the game might be causing the nvlddmkm error so disabling the Powermizer feature will remove the problem."

However, I am not entirely certain.

My graphics card only requires 300w and it does seem as though it would have something like that, but I can't be entirely certain unless I'm checking those values at the time I get a black-screen.

Are you sure that your power supply can handle it?
How many watts?

Maybe consider getting a case with better ventilation.

I have a 350w power supply.

It requires 300w minimum.

The case seems fine. Shitload of places to release the heat.

Maybe one of your display drivers crashed.
Are you sure all your drivers are up to date?

Alright, but by any chance do you have a CPU temp monitoring program you recommend?

Fuck.

More info, my screen was flashing on and off even when I wasn't playing a game. It doesn't seem to happen when I put 800x600 res, only when I go over it.

I seem to still have the graphics driver from the 9200 (old graphics card) installed...Should I uninstall it?

Download Speccy, It will tell you all your temps. Anything below 70c is safe.

I'll send you a link to the drivers too

I idle at 63

Fucking AMD and their not so good dual monitor handling

without dual monitors idle temps is 37, plug in second monitor and I'm up to 63 - try gaming and it goes to 87

anything under 90*c is safe

Well, those driver updates and that program Toasty sent me worked great. I still get a 3-5 second black screen when I'm playing sometimes (not occasionally, rarely) but at least I know it's  not overheating.

My 9200 is 60-70c when not running any games and 40-50c when running games
The Gt 440 is around 30-37c when not running games, and is around 55-60c when running games

You really run 350w on that gfx card? Go onto newegg's power supply calculator. Im 90% sure that that 300w requirement is in addition to whatever you need for your hdd and cpu, which is a lot more than 50 probably.

http://images10.newegg.com/BizIntell/tool/psucalc/index.html

I plugged in some info for mid range parts with your gfx and got 338w. That is cutting it really fucking close. That shits on you man. As for me, I run 100 - 200w psu higher than I need for security sake.
