"Best person I know"

Okay, so today I was talking to a guy who used to be my best friend, but then he slowly became kind of a dick to me.

But we still talk in school and play soem games. The thing is, we were talking about a friend of his, who he really likes and loves, and he said she was the best person he knows...

"...after you. You're the best person I know, you never bother anyone, you don't hit people, you don't prejudge" and some other nice things.

So even though he's an asshole at times, he managed to call me the best person he knows. I actually half-hugged him(he's kinda homophobic(he knows I'm a fag(he knows I don't feel anything for him but he still gets mad))) and felt like crying of joy so much. I hate myself. A lot. I hurt myself. A lot. I'm really angry with myself and sad.

But this made me extremely happy. I think that, even though I do a lot of bad shit, I'm the best person a guy knows. And he knows a lot of people.

So yeah. I'm really happy and it was like taking Extasis that only makes you happy without the side effects.

Have you had any experiences like this?

Yes.
A friend of mine is kind of a social outcast. he doesnt have a facebook or any of that and prefers to hide in the dark. He's very alone and lonely and he told me that his birthdays consists of just staying at home watching anime and tv. I decided to change that.
I became friends with him a long time ago and played a couple of games with him.

He's cool and very very nice. He's still quite shy though. He's a very awkward person who fears public communication even if its just a simple conversation with a waitress ordering.

About a month ago it was his birthday.. He said he wasnt doing anything so I decided to take him out.
We went to the movies, we went to the amusement park and arcade and we also ate out to eat.
It was a birthday celebration for him.

At the end of the night, when we both went home, I received a text message from him.
It said "Thanks for giving me the best birthday ever!"

Shit before I could even reply, he already sent me another and this time it said
"You saved my life tonight.. Thank you"

I cried.

Same, but very touching at the same time.

Anyways, I've been friends with this one girl since 3rd grade (currently a sophomore in high school), and we're constantly helping each other in our most desperate times of need. I can say for both of us that we're the best people we know. We've only been in one major fight, but that was in middle school and drama there is crazy sometimes. Other than that, we're always letting each other see the best in ourselves when we can't. Always giving advice as well as asking for advice. It's a really balanced relationship, and I'm glad we've been together for so long. We would always walk her dog and just talk about anything and everything, sharing out most personal secrets to each other. My only regret is that I moved and that I can't be there psychically for her, holding her after she's broken up with a loser or w/e.
She is a true friend.

And this is why I am SURE you are NOT going to hell.

As for me, I never had similar situations like yours Frank. I mean, I'm kind of both a dick and nice person at the same time  :-[

Thank you Marie for the sprite.

The only time I've ever had any of my friends express genuine care for me was when they told me I was a dumbass for cutting myself.

I've talked 1 or 2 people I know out of suicide. People I don't even like that much.

Other than that, I only have 1 or 2 real friends anyway.

People say that God is supposed to be Just and Fair, so it doesn't make any sense to me by most religious definitions that a good moral person who did everything they could to help others will still go to hell if they happen to be an Atheist. At least I've been told I'm going to hell by.. pretty much everyone.

Because everyone where you live at is very religious, yeah?
I understand what you mean, but personally, I don't believe atheists go to hell just because they don't believe in God.

Whoever told you that didn't know what they were talking about.

If you ever want to throw scripture at them to make them question their existence, I can help you there.

I'm not gonna take part of derailing this thread.
But I'm gonna keep talking about something on-topic.

It was a bit overwhelming when it happened. I did sit there and stare at the message he sent me for a good long minute and started crying.
Who knew? He showed no signs whatsoever other than being a very softspoken, sensitive quiet guy he usually is.

I couldn't reply properly to what he said. I didn't exactly KNOW what to say. I mean, what the fuck do you say to that?
"You're welcome"? no...
