Banned for changing name?

So I was in TTT today, under the name "Hydralisk". I was using it for a steam chat convo, when I changed it to "Kerrigan's Pet Hydralisk" and apparently that was a bannable offense.

Is the ban permanent or temporary?
Is there a way to lift the ban?
