Auto-kick and ban for changing your name?

Title speaks for itself. I want to know, whose great idea was it to autokick people for changing their name. I mean, we could at least have gotten a notification or something...

Oh ok, that makes more sense. Reconnecting 20 times in the next five minutes and seeing "You are banned from this server" when the server didn't specify it as a 5-minute kick is more nerve-wracking than I thought it would be.
