A Steam Question !! HELP.

I've been wondering if I install my TF2 DVD on my laptop, will the game save it to my Steam account? Because unfortunately my computer doesn't have a DVD Drive.
So that I can just download it through Steam with my com without buying a external DVD Drive or whatnot.

Can't you just copy/paste the CD key into Steam?

You know that you can use the serial-code to activate the game, right?
And if that doesn't works, do what you said

I'm so cheap. I use my PS2 DVD Drive as my DVD Drive on my PC.

FAIL, check for MDMP files in your Steam folders, they crash and fail your Steam.
