Hypnogagia/Sleep Paralysis
« on: May 21, 2010, 12:57:43 PM »

Has anyone had voluntarily induced sleep paralysis? AKA hypnogagia?

I tried the exact thing 2 days ago and shit was scary. You just lie on your back, in bed. Arms next to you on your bed and you just lay there. You don't need to put your mind at ease. You can just think of anything and freely listen to soft music etc.

Most important thing is that you ignore itches and the temptation to roll over to your side / stomach. After you get a few itches and you let them pass then the paralysis starts. It started from my toes all up to my head. It feels like there's a lead blanket being put over you and your breathing becomes automatized 'n it's pretty scary to be honest. When I got it I felt my pulse raising and I broke the paralysis by changing my breathing pattern.

I really suggest it, it's so strange but at the same time so awesome.

Look at this epic feedback;

When I experienced sleep paralysis it was the scariest night of my life.

To All The People Saying They're Going to Try Hypnogagia Tonight:

DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU'VE NEVER HAD SLEEP PARALYSIS. You will literally sh!t your pants if you end up getting it successfully. The first time I ever got sleep paralysis (not voluntarily) I thought it was the end of my life. I was in my bed in complete darkness and I saw my bedroom door open and some guy dressed all in black walking in. He had a gun in his hand and I knew he was coming to blow my brains out. I couldn't move sh!t no matter how hard I tried. And I was in a full blown panic thinking my life was over. Thankfully I woke up before I had a heart attack or something else.

JUST A WARNING.

Quote
oh my fuking god, just tried the hypnagogia thing. I literally just laid still and did not move (for like 10 min) and I swear I basically witnessed my mind going from awake to asleep WHILE STILL BEING Awake. I know that makes no sense but I have never ever felt anything like that. It was a mix of euphoria and absolute terror and I literally just had to start shaking myself before shhhit got to real. - I experienced this too

Thought I could add my experience from last night.

I had the sleep par. happening to me last year for few times(posted story on pg2), i didn't know that other experienced it as well until this thread. So I thought i would give it a try last night and see if i can do it on purpose. Was laying down for approx 35 minutes, literally nothing was happening, it was hard to keep my eyes closed because of the position; then suddenly i felt my facial structures getting numb, it was weird as hell.. i guess by this time i finally fell asleep, opened my eyes and seen the exactly same looking humanoid from my first sleep par.. and again it was coming at me, it was like 3 steps away from my bed but it took it few minutes to come close to my bed, looked ****ing weird then suddenly it layed down next to me, i was getting sweaty as hell, heart pumping like it had never before; I was trying to turn my head to the left side to see what the **** it looks like, but i simply couldn't move any part of my body. It literally was simply laying down next to me, i tried to scream to wake up myself, but i had no control over my body. Then I felt the same tingling in my back like the first time and i finally woke up, sweaty as hell and ran to my bathroom for a cold shower.

The most remarkable symptoms of SP (Sleep Paralysis) are the accompanying audio and/or visual hallucinations often causing extreme terror and panic in it's sufferers, who more often than not mistakenly believe they are being visited by aliens, malevolent beings and other evil presences. OH MY GOD AWESOME.

You guys just ask questions and shit.

Oh yeah and also. Why would you do this shit to yourself voluntarily? I heard you can get some epic lucid (controllable dreams) from doing so. I'mma read up some more.

Opened a thread about this before, I had a succesful sleep paralysis, but it was hard for me to breath so I broke the SP, I also had a Lucid Dream, but I was too tired to actually control it, so I just changed my dream's "direction" from time to time, this shiz is epic and everyone should try it lol (but read stuff about it before you try, you need to be prepared or you'll fail lawl)

I guess you didn't read SoneriN's post, SP is a way to induce LD's, read some info about these stuff before you call me a newfag, and I didn't copy paste those stuff, I actually wrote them myself, and if you didn't notice what SoneriN posted here is an image that probably was copied from some site.

You never talked about sleep paralysis.

Hey everybody, I have just found a thing called Lucid Dreaming, or in short - LD.
LD is a dream where you control everything in the dream, you make yourself fly, you breath underwater, explore the world and more.
Here's a site about it: Click here

I'm going to try it today cause it sound epic, I'm also hearing some sounds here that are supposed to help me be Lucid in my dream, I got the sounds from here, each sound has a description of what it does.

Post here if you have any experience with LD, if you are trying/tried LD, or you just think it's cool =D

Never LD'd  but wanted to. I always fall asleep when I try. I know they suggest doing it in the morning, but thats dangerous if I fall back asleep.

/offtopic

Whats wrong with talking about sleep paralysis in a lucid dream thread? They are related topics.

Whoah that seems creepy and I'm too lazy to go try it but,
I did once wake up out of a scary dream, and believe it or not I could not move at all.
I tried to move my arms but couldnt. The weird thing about it is, I didn't panic and I calmly dealt with the situation.
Knowing me, I'd probably freak right the fk out and scream and wake everyone in the room with me.

So I dunno. Sounds crazy like a huge acid trip.
I observed a friend once who was in some form of drug or he mightve done this and his hallucinations was just.. weird.
he started seeing small skinny stick-like blue people coming out of the wall and running under the bed he was laying on.
He only saw it through his peripheral vision but meh it was weird.

i kind of want to try this but i kind of don't lol, because of that one person that said they couldn't move and a creepy person moved beside them and they were trying to scream to wake themselves up but they couldn't. Sounds fucked up but kind of fun.

I sleep paralyzed myself for over 10 times. Once i had a weird man with a gas mask on his face. I could only move my eyeballs, nothing else. Rest of my body was frozen. He ripped my head apart from my body. I woke up quickly and i was sweating like hell. Gah, i gotta stop doing it. But It's fun.

Any man who knows a thing knows
He knows not a damn, damn thing at all
And every time I felt the hurt
And I felt the givin' gettin' me up off the wall
