I'm going to delete my gmod folder but I dont want all my crap to be deleted such as maps and addons and stuff.

Can someone help me with the exact step by step tutorial on how to do it?
I'm still experiencing lag with 24 fps I dunno if that's good or not :/

You could delete all the folders. Exept the one you need. ex Addons and maps. Steam will take care of the rest for you.

Name your garrysmod/garrysmod (the garrysmod folder where maps, materials, addons etc are in) folder something like Garrysmod OLD.
Start Gmod, it should create a new garrysmod folder.

yah frank helped me already and hopefully it works now.
Ive lagged a couple of times in flood etc.

lagged some in zs but it wasnt just me.
So hopefully I won't lag as much.

There was 20 people in the server.
And I was lagging bad..

I need further assistance.
Should I just delete gmod completely and reinstall backing up my maps?

Have you tried setting the priority to normal/anything else again via the Task Manager? And checked the launch options of GMod?
If you did, I guess a reinstall is the only thing you can do.

I had this problem once. Dunno what i did but fixed it... I think it has something to do with steam connection/settings

set steam to core 1


steam has a tendency to have huge lag spikes of up to 300,000k memory which basicly kills hl2.exe


so ya


WIN XP -> ctrl alt del -> processes -> steam.exe -> set affinity -> core 1

WIN VISTA/7 -> Right click on taskbar -> task manager | ctrl alt del -> task manager -> processes -> steam.exe -> set affinity -> core 1
