For an example yesterday... I was plugging my truck in, as it has heaters on the oilpan and in the engine block, so that you can start it in the morning.

My extension cord had snow packed in it, so I couldn't plug it into my truck. I tried banging it against my bumper to get the snow out, all that happened was the end of the extension cord shattered. The end of the extension cord is even made out of pretty soft rubber... normally...

Goodbye $50 extension cord, you will be missed...  :'(


By the way tezuni what city are you in? That bed in the back of your pictures looks mysteriously like the dorm beds at UAA and UAF.

Don't remind me. Last year here it got down to the same temperature you've got there now. Though right now it seems extremely late. It's only about -5 C. I'm okay with that but I wish there was more snow...

Last January it was below -40C for 2 weeks. The lowest it hit was ~-49C (-56F)

Thankfully I was only here for half of it, as my university doesn't start until mid-late January.

Wow I heard it was cold up there lol.  Poor extension cord..

Being from Hawaii it feels like im in Antarctica  :'(
