I'm planning to buy a new one, because fucking Cake Face has me really paranoid that this hard drive is going to fail soon.

It has to be at least 1TB
3GB/s (motherboard doesn't support more then that)
Cannot be Western Digital.

He has spoken.

Seriously, get Samsung. They're pretty cheap and extremely reliable. You can pick up a 1TB for $60.

yeah thats the one I was looking at, there was a seagate one with about the same specs for cheaper but it was one of those Eco Green things I don't really need. IDC about the sound as long as its not overly loud.

So what exactly is wrong with Western Digital? But that Samsung drive is quite good all the same.

Yeah, Ive never had an issue with a WD that wasnt my fault (Hard or multiple falls and such). I just dont see why everyone hates WD.
Also, ecogreen drives dont suffer much in performance, but its a joke anyways... Harddrives dont use much power regardless. 60 watt lightbulb, or a 59 watt, sir?

My Samsumg drive quite often gives me wrong indexed files, corrupted files too... I'd go for WD if you ask me, just not the "green" series
