You get it directly from the DMV while your permanent (well, at least it's good for a year) permit is printing.
It takes about 10 days for you to get your permanent one.

So uh, did you get your actual drivers license or is this just a permit where you need to practice driving with a parent?

No, its a permit, not a license.

You can start drivers ed at age 14 1/2 here. And once you go through with drivers ed, you get your permit. You have to have your permit for one year then you get your real driver's license.

However, the waiting list for driver's ed is 6 or more months long. I.E. No one gets their permit before 15 and no one gets their license before 16.

Lul, you don't have to go through Driver's ED here to get your permit. You just need to get a Handbook and study it and when you're 15 1/2, you can take the test. And you get your permit (written copy) on the day that you pass the computer/eye test. And here it's only 6 months you need to have your permit to apply for license :> (A long with a log sheet of daytime/night driving hours)

I has 3 months left and my Driver's ED course is only 17 weeks.
