he even RDMed the detective and baited me and  i lost my karma because of him

Technically, he did first blood rdm and you happened by chance to be traitor and did kill the detective, but maybe detective tried to kill him first?

Well, I guess it depends - I mean, if you are being attacked by another I or a D at the very beginning of the round, I guess some adrenaline thing kicks in where you'd rather kill whoever is shooting and be able to play regardless of how much karma you'd lose.
