Need help with internet speed

Ok so i have had AT&T for a while now and we have been paying for 3MB/s
the highest i have EVER gotten is
130-170KB/s i have the U-Verse plan, and when i call and bitch and see what i can do they just say "The building doesnt reach that far to your home" which is a BIG lie because my friends house is right next to the building, has the same plan as me and ALSO gets the shittiest speed....
I really hate suffering like this.. is their ANYTHING i can do?

Yeah I have AT&T and paying for about 5MB/s also except I only get about 700kb/s. ISP's are always like that.

You dont understand how internet speeds work.

They advertise their speed in megabits, not bytes.

8mbps = 1MB/s

So your internet speed isnt slower than it should be, you just didnt do your research when purchasing your internet from your ISP.

But yea, you're paying for the right speed. I think you have to divide your Megabits by 7 or 8 or something like that and get a long number that gives you a hint on what your speed is.
