Things I'm interested in

Hey Guys!

Lately I've been seeing some of the things you all do, and there were a few things that reallt tickled my fancy. Coding and mapping.
I want to try these things out, see what it's like and how it works.
Where would I be able to learn and practice these and what would I have to donwload and such.

Though I'd much rather not spend any money, if it's neccesary, I'll give it a try.

Thanks in advance!

You won't need to spend any money on anything. I haven't messed around with mapping or coding in a long while, so I don't have all the links and references and what not anymore (well, I do somewhere, but I'm too lazy to look). All I know is that for coding most people use Notepad ++ to compile lua (you'll need to download it). The lua/gmod wiki is also a huge help. http://wiki.garrysmod.com/?title=Lua_Overview
For mapping you use Source SDK (Hammer) which you can download free on Steam. That's about all I can tell you for mapping.

Man, thanks guys!
This is really exciting.

I put all of the links in my favorites, and I'm going to give these things a try soon.
