My GPU is shitting bricks

Holy shit. When playing crysis under the easiest maps at full settings (Im getting 150 in my custom map at ultra high), my GPU rasies up to 90 degrees.

When idling, the lowest it got was 30 degrees. And I just got this card a few weeks ago and my 15 day return warranty is long gone.

How do I get my gpu to hit under 60 degrees. Does getting a case fan or 2 help in any way?

5770 shouldn't be hitting that high of temps...
30C Idle is normal for that car.
Thoe 90C even in extreme condition it should never get that high :S
Does your case have any airflow?

Well, its a shitty Raidmax case thats cheap. Im not sure of the airflow but it's fine enough. And the eah5770 is CUcore. Its odd really.

That's a fail mate, Is your fan even on during gaming?

The chip might be telling it to go slower on high load instead of faster(lolfail)

Your case looks shiz aswell :x

Confined space + high end gfx cards = nono




Try:


Click the fan tab, Set fan to 100%

Get ATi Catalyst, Go to ATi Overdrive, Unlock the card, Set fan speed to manual 100% and if neccesarry lower clocks

Why in holy fuck would I wanna buy a new PC when I already have a  high end gaming rig right here. If I need anything to be upgraded, it would be a new case and that's all.

Also, the problem went away. I think I was underclocking the core wattage.

Well since its fixed thats cool.
But what lower voltage does is just makes it unstable and crash.
More voltage = more heat.

Yea, thats the confusing thing about this certain GPU. I dont think anyone else has this problem with other brands of the radeon 5770. Just happens to be an ASUS thing I guess.

1 thing u have to keep in mind...
If you buy a normal reference card. Like not the overclocked edition.
They have a technology called green power or something like that.

what it does is. The card underclocks itself when there is no load.
The problem with that is. When u try to over clock it. Even by 1Mhz. Your card will fuck up and become unstable.
