So I decided to try out onlive, which is a public, Free-to-use cloud gaming service.
Cloud gaming is when all the game processes are rendered on their servers, which a HD video stream goes directly to you, eliminating GB's of filesizes on your computer, and being able to play on almost any computer.
Oh man. I thought it would suck, but really, it's pretty awesome.
"Spent 600$ on your new gaming rig? Great. I'm playing Crysis on my netbook at max settings".
The main point of this is to show how well onlive works, despite what I originally thought. The video quality is relatively good. It's not AS GOOD as it being rendered in real time, the quality reduction is noticeable.
Mouse/Keyboard lag is little to none. You'll it when navigating menu's, but while in-game, it's unnoticeable.
So why am I making this thread? Well, I originally got it to try out, but oh man, it's pretty neat. I thought I'd share it for others to check out, since you're not loosing anything, and can pretty much get a free 30-minute demo to FEAR 3 (And a lot of other games).
They have "Play Passes", which is essentially renting the games for 3-5 days. Another neat feature is the way they handle "Demo's". If you want to try out a game, you have 30 minutes to play the FULL game. You use the trial as many times as you want, but you can't load saves while in the trial.
I decided to get a 3-day play pass for Metro 2033. Looks VERY NAIC.
Anyways, I recorded this earlier today.
