I started playing Garry's mod when it was called Garry's Mod 9 sometime back in 2005. I think the first thing I made was a flying bathtub with wheels on some random Flatgrass server.
I played Gmod 9 for about a year, even past when Gmod 10 came out since I didn't want to have to pay for it. After my Gmod 9 folder became corrupted from all the mods I had installed, I eventually caved in and bought Gmod 10. People also said most of the bugs had been worked out and the new tools and lack of virus's (yes you could get a virus by joining a corrupted server back then) was worth the upgrade. (It took me forever to get used to the new menu system.)
I floated around going to different servers and game modes, until I finally found a SpaceBuild server. After that I began to play mostly SpaceBuild servers, since making spaceships was awesome. I eventually came across Sleepersoft's SpaceBuild server, which was even better than the rest due to all the custom items that were added to the server, and a slightly less laggy gaming experience. After playing on his server with Sleeper for several months, he one day game me admin at random. I certainly didn't complain!
Then one day Sleeper told me one of his friends started to host a server and I should come check it out. So of course I Hemmed and Hawwed and looked at the cool spaceship I was building, then also looked at the fact I was alone in the SpaceBuild server. So I went and joined him.
The title of this new game server was, " .:`=-~rANdOm~`-=:. Wire/Phx/LS Build server" (Or something Similar to that)
This was sometime in the Fall of 2006.
The server was only hosted during the day, and was turned off when coolz went to sleep, and this being coolz first foray into Gmod server hosting, me and sleeper (Being the resident experts
) suggested new mods and items to put on the server. ( I had coolz install Spacebuild on it ^.^)
Sometime in that week Coolz decided to add me to the admin list since sleeper was admin, and I was an admin for sleeper. (At least that is my guess as to why he added me)
We both started to play on coolz's server more and more, and Spacebuild started to get more and more buggy with new updates, and eventually Sleeper closed his server down, and I was playing solely on random servers.
The first map I played on a Rnd server was gm_tropicalwaters It had cool islands and a pirate base and stuffs. But people didn't like it cause their computer's were too lame to run it.
