And, what if another player has the exact same name? (which I highly doubt).

Shinigami means Death God/Death Spirit so with a translation as that its believable that multiple people are using the name.

Im sure theres a way to check the ips...

ips don't help much nor does ip banning... because of static ips and all that jazz.
