Since what i know it should be 288 because you read the problem from left to right.

so you have to do first 48/2... no 2 x 12

In order to solve a question with multiple operations (add/subtract, multiply/divide) there is an order to follow often referred to as 'BEDMAS'
BEDMAS is an acronym that stands for;

B-brackets
E-exponents
DM-multiply or divide (left to right)
AS-add subtract (left to right)
