Retail CD-Keys for this game cannot be registered through Steam.

Well. I was right and wrong. For CSS, you have to go to the thing at the bottom that says add game and hit activate a game on steam. This is for CSS. Adding non-steam games is for most other games.

I bought CS:S (along with DoD, and Hl2dm) from walmart on my birthday a long ass time ago.
All i did was click on

Select your CS:S and just enter the CD key.

Unfortunately he can't DL it because it says he's already DL'd it before.
