Well, the endless burden of leveling up is the formula for an abundance of the games out today.
Pokemon
Maple Story
Call of Duty
Combat Arms
World of Warcraft
I said grinding to level up a useless skill is annoying in MMO's.
Pokemon isn't a mmo, and come on now, whats more satisfying than seeing your Charmander finally evolve into a Charizard after hours of playing?
Call of Duty's leveling system is much more simplified. No need to level up your skill in fucking bomb placing so you can place C4 charges 0.02 seconds faster. You just get xp for kills, then get bigger and better weapons the more you play. You aren't going OUT of your way to level up, unlike spending hours out in the woods chopping down trees. Same applies to combat arms.
But Maple Story and World of Warcraft
it's a MMORPG. Great in concept, but really, who wants to spend hours, nay days, NAY WEEKS cutting down trees just to level up their woodcutting?
Really?
