Back at it again

Well, after a long period of discouragement from coding, I'm gonna seriously try.
After watching some of the videos that general posted, (I've gotten up to variables), I realised how simple some of it is.

My first goal with coding is to create a program for tracking game reports.
As a referee, in order to advance to an 07 (currently an 08), I need to be atleast 17 (I believe this rule is bendable) as well as proof that I've refereed atleast 100 games.

The program will include team names, (both home and away), referees (center, AR1, AR2), date, time, and scores as well as any cards given along with an explanation.

Based on a scale from 1 to 10, 10 being very difficult, how hard do you think this will be?
I'm assuming pretty easy, but I haven't learned much of C++ to say anything.

*I'm going to go to Barnes and Noble in the morning to get some books for coding, so I should be set. If I do have any question's, I'm going to ask them here.

Just one thing that I need to ask. I don't want coding to be a big part of my life. I just want to have it as a hobby; that way I can create programs to help myself, show off to friends, or even help you guys out eventually. will trying to learn coding require a lot of my time? Seems stupid, but I'm not sure.

I bought this book from the Barnes and Noble and so far I'm on lesson 5/29
It's pretty helpful, I'm just going to have to reread it later. I began reading it just to see if it would be something I'd like, and it is.
Just one question as of right now, What can you use arrays for?
I had to read that lesson twice to understand it.

Wow, that title ... is retarded, I like when it was "Teach Yourself C++ in 24 Hours" - in fact, I have that still.

I'm surprised it covered pointers to functions [from which I moved quickly to making simple programs with pointers to templated functions :D]

The book talked about that, learning C before C++
it reccomended that you didn't, that way you didn't start bad habits for C++

what...

Just find one online. There's so many free books around it's not even funny.

Then again, sometimes it's easier to have the physical book.

Worth more to just buy a book than be searching.
