Here's what trusty Wikipedia says:

Eclipse cycles

See also: Saros cycle and Eclipse cycle
Every year there are at least two lunar eclipses, although total lunar eclipses are significantly less common. If one knows the date and time of an eclipse, it is possible to predict the occurrence of other eclipses using an eclipse cycle like the Saros cycle.

I remember this stuff some years ago
some planet (I think it was venus?) going in front of the sun, which only happens once every few thousand years
everyone went apeshit "OMG THIS SO AWESOME"
>look yourself
>it's only a black dot going through the sun

...

In my defence, I was 11 or 12 or something.

Last time it happened was approximitely 400 years ago... My brother told me about it last night, but when I went down, I woke my mom up and she got pissed at me... So I then went back upstairs just imagining what it looked like.... :(

Don't worry, you would have been disappointed anyways.
