The only reason Windows XP is becoming obsolete is because Microsoft is supporting the sales of Windows 7.
That's how they make money. They don't money off of OS updates... they make money off of new OS.
Did I mention XP came out when I was in 5th grade?
You were 7 when It came out.
Considering they didn't release any operating systems for over 6 years, I'd say they aren't just out to only get our money quite yet. They are still interesting in giving the costumer some value for their money at this point in time.
The operating systems I have used so far:
Whatever apple OS was out from ~1995-1998
Windows 95 a few times in ~1997
windows 98 From ~1998-2002
windows ME 2000-2006 (Laptop) Then switched to Knoppix
XP since 2002-2008
Vista from 2008-2010
7 for the last 4 months.
I'm not just making crap up.
Windows 7 has been my favorite operating system so far (Other than Linux), I would never want to go back to XP. If you really want to use XP go ahead I won't stop you. But I can't recommend for someone to load XP on their computer, Unless they are using a very specific set of applications that are only compatible with XP to the exclusion of everything else. Otherwise If they really needed legacy support, go with Windows 2000.
The worst operating system I have ever used, was Windows ME
-Old computer stick with XP, or linux.
-New Computer, switch to 7, or linux.
