I considered getting into DnD with some friends, mostly because the RP aspect really attracted me. I'm not gonna lie, since I've started playing FFXIV again and focused mostly on RPing and enjoying the lore, rather than just solely progressing, it's shown me something. It reminded me why I loved games so much to begin with as a kid, and why I played them. I usually spend so much of my time playing League, which I do thoroughly enjoy, but League is pretty far from your typical RPG game and even then when I would go back and play RPG's, they never felt the same because I was so used to games like League.
Playing League for me doesn't feel like I am playing a "game" it feels like I am "playing League" and I am sure people who play LoL might understand what I mean.
When I first started RPing was kinda awkward, since it had been so long since I had ever done any RP (mostly because I never had anyone to play with me) but I got involved on a FFXIV RP forum and met a lot of really nice people. I was almost instantly picked up by a newly made group and since have discussed lore, the new expansion coming out and just have been relaxing. They come and help me with dungeons and what not, and idk I just think it's really great.
This is obviously more personal for me, I know not every one feels the same about Roleplaying, but I just wanted to share.
I know a lot of people have a negative connotation of RP because of obvious things, but really it's not that bad, especially when you're with the right people. It's a shame more people won't be into it because they're afraid of being judged and let me say this before hand, yes I do know someone who has more or less directly said that to me.
