Please Help Me Build My Own Gaming Desktop

I am currently investing in building my own  gaming desktop setup. As of right now I am only playing League, once I complete my desktop I would like to expand my gaming library and include chatting devices. I would please like it if you guys would help me find the best specs possible. My budget is a total of $400 - $750. I already have headphones, a mouse, and a mouse pad. Thank you for your feedback.

Every time you download Garry's Mod illegally, Garry makes a bug.

When people ask me "Plz" because its shorter than "Please" I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because its shorter than "Yes".

So what is your budget $400 or $750? Usually when I spec out a computer for people I have them tell me how much money they want to spend and then build something to match.

I am thinking about a new budget of $700-$1.5k. Understanding that I am not just buying a computer from the store, I'm going to need a more flexible budget.

You can actually get pretty close to any budget number, It's one of the advantages to building a computer. I usually have people give me a Do Not Exceed number, then I come up with a computer as close to that number as possible.

There is a vast difference between a $1500 computer and a $700 computer. It's kinda like saying I'd like a home somewhere between a mansion and a mobile home. Narrow it down to a number that you feel comfortable with spending.

If that's the case I would say don't exceed $1500.

Do you plan on overclocking? None-the-less here are two builds, one that overclocks and one that doesn't.

Overclocker: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vVcVHx

Non: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/HTJq99

Justifications for parts:

CPU: For $1500 you really shouldn't go with AMD, Intel simply crushes when you can afford it. The 4690 and 4690k are the same chip except one of them is unlocked, aka you can overclock it.

CPU Cooler: Went with the Water 3.0 Extreme simply because I have the same chip and cooler, and am overclocked fairly high with a max gaming temp of around 45C. As for the none overclocker I went with what's popular, someone here can probably save you some money by replacing the DH-14 with something else.

Motherboard: Z97 and H97, the Z97 is for overclocking and I've no idea what the difference is between an H97 and a B85 board, so someone here could probably edit that.

Memory: 16GB is (probably) overkill, and you'd save some money by going with 8GB instead.

Storage: Pretty standard, with your budget I gave you a 500GB SSD and a 2TB HDD. I hope no one here brings up that BS "study" between the big HDD companies that says Seagate has a higher failure rate than Hitachi and Western Digital. It's bogus.

Video card: This is highly debatable, I gave you a GTX 970, although I won't argue is someone says a R9 290 is better, they're pretty cheap right now. You could also wate for the GTX 960 to come out to save some money.

Case: This shouldn't be my choice, a case is largely your decision, I just gave you a generic case from a trusted manufacturer.

PSU: Standard stuff here, Corsair is an incredibly reliable brand, and a fully modular PSU is what you want.

OS: I added it because reasons. I recommend you pingaz it in all honestly.

Someone else should definitely contribute to this, as I haven't made part lists since June, so my information may out of date.

Also, /r/buildapc is great, but post your build request to /r/buildapcforme

Thank you for this list. I do plan to overclock if I can and will keep all of it in mind while making my decision. If there are cheaper parts now I will surely buy them, but I am looking forward to having all my parts bought by the Summer of next year or so.

No idea if you are slowly buying all the items, or going to buy them all next year.

If it's the former, I'd probably buy the GPU last because new ones are always coming out. And CPU second to last.
If its the latter, you will probably want to think of a new build because a lot of new stuff will come out like always. lol

Mobo and CPU should be bought at the same time, every other part can vary.
