How did you feel during your first few weeks in college?

I'm curious to hear how everyone's first few weeks or even entire freshman year went when they entered college. I've kind of transitioned from hating it to just missing home and wanting to see Hawaii, my family, and my girlfriend. I know this is normal, but it sucks regardless.

How long did your homesickness last, if at all?

Where are you going to college?  And congrats dude.

My first year was really cool, since I was in a totally new place (alaska).  During this time, I didn't feel very homesick at all.  Now, starting my 3rd year, I feel pretty homesick and college isn't as fun anymore.  I met another guy from Hawaii and we go to L&Ls here for musubis lol, which helps.  Good luck and take comfort in knowing you're making use of a great opportunity.

Just started college this week. I restricted my choice of college within the state and the campus is only a half hour drive from my home so >:D

It started off pretty well actually. I'm liking college.

I just started this week, but moved in last week.  So essentially, I've been at college for 2 weeks, and I FUCKING LOVE IT.  I am one-and-a-half hours from home, a perfect distance, and I have so much freedom.  This has been a great time of my life already.  I hope it only gets better.

Well, unfortunately I'm nearly as far away from home as I could be. I left Hawaii to go to college in Michigan State University for its Engineering schooling which is suppose to be one of the best in the country, aside from the more well known places like Stanford and such.

I'm just really feeling homesick because Hawaii, as Tezuni could tell you, is much different from the mainland. I really miss the culture there, my family, and especially my girlfriend. Now that a few more days have gone by and I've gotten used to it, I've gotten a little better. I'm just focusing on finishing this semester and going back home for Christmas break for a few weeks.

I started last week, like monorail, I do fucking love it. 20 minute drive to and from, people will actually say hi, hold intelligent conversations, no delinquents who distract the class, it's fun.

I'm really liking it here at Texas A&M. I'm quite a ways from home, just have 100miles. But it's alright, I haven't felt homesick yet. Although I haven't learned anything this first week and I don't think I will for a little while, we started on topics I learned my junior year of high school.

The classes are the same with me. I have intermediate Algebra because I didn't take a placement test seriously, and I finished high school with calculus -_-.
I'm also taking Japanese, but I'm taking it much more serious this time so it should be more fun and I'll learn a lot more. Hopefully I'll know it enough to use in back in Hawaii for the Japanese tourists ;)

School has gotten a lot better though in the past week, especially since it's gone by really fast and I'm not even that busy yet with working and school.

College algebra, trigonometry, and calculus are actually much more difficult than their high school versions.  It is much faster paced and covers far more material.  You'll probably see that more as your classes progress.

Bump because intro to engineering is the most annoying class I have ever taken in my entire life.

We have to watch our lectures online, they're voiced Microsoft Fucking Sam, we then take quizzes at the beginning of class each day, and then WE JUST GET THE NORMAL LECTURE FOR THE REST OF CLASS! WHY?

Also, they hide the online lectures on their website so that you have to go through folders inside folders to actually find them, and then they don't tell you when they were uploaded or when the quiz over them will actually be.

My Intro to Engineering (computer science area) class is sorta similar. We have quizzes everyday but the professor lectures us the material so we turn in the quizzes at the end of class.

Completely different for me. One day is lab with computers, other day is lecture in a classroom. Teaches with a powerpoint every time and talks a lot of his personal experiences.
