Who the hell mistakes a civilian plane for a Ukranian jet?

The plane was flying on a route that is used by many other planes.

Let me be  the black sheep and say that, while this is horrible thing it could have been easily averted if.

1. The Ukrainian government had not renewed their offensive.
2. Airlines had taken heed to Russia and Ukraine's warnings to not fly above separatist occupied territory.

While I show the most sympathy for the lost lives, the finger pointing doesn't make the situation much better. Because the end game seems to hint at wider regional conflict, for what ? At the worst it was mistaken  identity,Because neither side gains anything from shooting down an airliner.

It might as well be an inside job of some country to gain political pain and acceptance to fuck shit up. Remember Pearl Harbor! The Towers! The planes!
