The O on the speaker could be how you experience the Codename: Steambox
[O    ] could be what features it has
O + O could be family features or multiplayer features

Just guessing. It could be nothing though.

3 Announcements next week. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/09/20/valve-teases-three-announcements-next-week

Steam Box.
Left for Dead 3
Half Life 3(/Half Life 2 Episode 3?)

That's my guess. They already announced source 2 kinda, though I guess that could be an announcement.

I don't see this as being any new games, as all three announcements are centered around this "living room" play theme.

Actually I thought the  [O    ]  is related to the "wearable computing" they said they were working on and that the  O + O  is something about their VR goggles. Probably not, but would be cool to hear more about those.

So we were all wrong - http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamOS/

Sounds very interesting, I may have to buy an SSD just for this OS if it turns out to be good.

Too early to claim we're wrong.
If the () represents software, perhaps [] could represent hardware.
() = SteamOS
[()  ] = SteamOS hardware
() + () = SteamOS dualboot (?) or multiplayer functions? Perhaps the two () could indicate different types of software - the first () could indicate the OS while the second () could indicate non-OS software - e.g. games, so perhaps an announcement for featured titles. Probably nothing to do with half life 3
