The lyrics are stale and repetitive, and the lead singer can't sing.
I would be less inclined to hate this song if they didn't play this shit once every fifteen minutes on every radio station in Los Angeles.
The music video is ridiculously weird, as well.
Tbh good lyrics will always make a song more meaningful to me and I'll appreciate it a bit more maybe but I don't depend on good lyrics to enjoy music. Sometimes music can just be entertaining and express some emotion and be just as good as the next song that maybe isn't all that great in regards to vocal skills or guitar skills but has deep lyrics. I mean really if all you care about is a message go read a poetry. A lot of music at least has poetry in it, but music isn't poetry. Or story telling, what ever you want to call it.
I can maybe see what you're saying about the singer though but I don't really think it's that bad and I still feel like the song overall's got a nice vibe. Though I understand if you have to listen to it a lot it may become annoying. That doesn't mean the song's bad, however. It means it may be overplayed, not really their fault.
Weird isn't bad, btw, and songs aren't meant to be movies. That's just an addition.
Just my two cents.
