What do I do if this happens again?

Okay, so a few months ago I was doing my usual exercise routine by running through a forest near my house and I was unlucky enough to run into what looked like a pregnant cougar around 20 - 30 feet away from me. It had a chubby stomach so I'm assuming it was pregnant and it was around the time when they mate. Fight or Flight kind of took over and I just started screaming and growling to try to show I'm not pray and it ran off. It was hunched down as if it was ready to jump and I know how defensive they are when it comes to cubs. After I lost sight of it I ran home.

I've moved to a new area and there's a lot of Cougar activity in my area. I live in Gibsons B.C.(Off coast from Vancouver) and it's temperate rain forest. It also snows maybe eight hours a year because of how humid it is. What should I do if I'm walking to school when it's dark and encounter another Cougar or if I'm really cursed, a Cougar and her cubs? I was told to bring a hunting knife when I walk to defend myself just in case. What should I do if it won't run?

Shoot yourself with a hunting rifle so that you could feed the cougar and its cubs. Or I guess you could shoot the cougar.

Unfortunately this is a gaming forum. You won't be finding animal experts here.

I just realized that you said hunting knife instead of hunting rifle. Well then I guess you could try making yourself smell like cougar shit or something and hope that the cougars won't attack something that smells like their own shit. If that doesn't work have a big lump of meat with you and trow it at the cougars if they attack and if that doesn't work then change your running route, you don't need to have a few mile long road, you can run around your house or local neighborhood for as long as you would normally do. With the all the info you provided this is the best I can do.

Speak for yourself, I had a dog once and used to have lots of bulls and cows, I know everything about animals.

So I assume you have tried this yourself, then. :O

The best way to deal with your problems is to plant a C4 in close proximity to it.

Case and point, Prox doesn't know that cows are different than cougars.
