Royal baby born!

An unnamed baby boy has been born, third in heir to the throne of Great Britain. I never realised how popular this event was around the world, especially in the US.

Just wanted to put this here, since it set headlines on fire.

Well America is of British Descent so it would make sense that some people would care. It seems America in general is a little less proud of their British ties than Canada though.

Yay! The royal baby is born and we should all be happy that for the rest of his life he will be an accessory to his parents. Maybe they can get a reality TV show.
Unless anyone in the royal family actually does something for the world, aside from the stunts which are keeping women's magazines in business I will continue to see them as nothing but celebrities.

Can't wait until they name the baby, then we can have top headlines about how and what it's fed, then his first word and first steps.

The day when the media will stop serving government's interests and start reporting things that actually matter the way its meant to be reported is probably gonna be the day when we will not have any more wars, as of now, here have this, meanwhile there was an earth quake in China with multiple deaths and hundreds wounded but who am I kidding a royal brat is so much more important. Fucking right on.

Tbh I see nothing wrong with it. Sure you're going to hear a lot of it and it might mean nothing you do but it means something to a lot of people. Also why shouldn't the media stop serving the government's interests? I don't really see that as a bad thing, that's how they're going to do things and if you don't like it it's really not hard to ignore it and not care. Back onto my point though the royal family represents a lot and is a huge part of Great Britain and their culture. You don't question or insult that.

So many people do this and I see it so often it truly annoys the hell out of me. It's easy for people to complain about another nation's culture but defend your own because obviously your culture is what you've accustomed to and is a major part of your way of life. So when people challenge and question and insult your culture, disrespecting and judging it, you're going to defend it because that's what you've been taught to do. And that's fine, that's good in fact. How ever sometimes it's necessary to put yourself in the other person's shoes sometimes because maybe you don't realize what you're doing and that in fact you would feel it's not okay if it's being done to you.

What I'm saying is more or less choke it down and deal with it. This is a fairly big deal to some people whether you understand it or not because it's a part of their culture and living and isn't right for you to judge or complain about. Yea, you're going to have to deal with hearing about it for a while. Unless someone's beating you up on the order of the royal family then deal with it.
In my opinion, hearing all the CONSTANT whining about the royal family is far far more irritating than actually hearing about the royal family. And I hear the complaints more than I actually hear about the family.

Do you have any idea what you're justifying? So, it's okay for the media to build massive propaganda campaigns and then go to war? The best example is middle east, Iraq, Afghanistan - hundreds of thousands if not millions killed and for what? A nuclear weapon? Oh come the fuck on, anyone who can do their own research can tell that it was done for natural resources. In fact they've been trying to do the same thing with Iran too, for years, not to mention that media also shifts attention from important domestic issues that would help people to realize that their government (mostly referring to USA here) is doing a lot of bad. Another example is how media literally ignored Ron Paul from 2012 election when out of all candidates he was the only one who promised a real change, but that was a big thread for the current establishment and military complex and a great good for the so called 99%.

Did I ever said I have a problem with their culture? No I didn't. I said that I don't like how much attention world wide is this thing getting when there were so much more important issues that didn't got half of what this thing did. Oh and by the way, the media judges other cultures in middle east or even in Asia and unfortunately, not too good most of the time.

Again, I do not care about the family, its the attention they're getting over other, more important issues, and this misleads people and gives them wrong understanding of the current events and world that we live in.

Sorry Prox I guess I had this like really weird perception that this thread was about the royal family and not war and propaganda. I really need to read into this stuff more often.
What I said with not seeing a problem with what the media is doing is CLEARLY aimed at what they're doing with the royal family, not with war and propaganda and all of that. If you're going into that part of the media then obviously I don't support it but that's never really going to change. It's an easy pay for them.

And I do believe mentioning my understanding that it's the media constantly talking about the family that makes it annoying, and I'm still saying that people not to stop complaining and ignore it. At least they're (usually) being positive about something. The constant NEGATIVE comments I hear from people about hearing of the family is far worse in my opinion.

And for what you said about the culture, I'm saying that the royal family is a large part of their culture clearly and if you have to hear about it for a bit then oh well. This stuff dies down like anything any how once everything's settled down.

Here's a maybe more POSITIVE opinion to consider, however. Instead of complaining about how the media focuses on information that you don't find important, why don't you complain about simply how they don't provide enough information on important topics and what those are. Really that's the issue, not the media posting 'useless' information, that's simply a cause of them not sharing enough important stuff. And when you say that instead of "oh this and this and this isn't important WHAT ABOUT THE WARS MAN THE WARS" you're going to sound like much less of a critical ass. Mainly when it comes to a topic like this one, which really revolves around other people's culture.

I really think you do.

If you're going into that part of the media then obviously I don't support it but that's never really going to change. It's an easy pay for them.
If enough people would realize then I do believe it could change, I mean even right now there are news channels that still do good quality news coverege.
Here's a maybe more POSITIVE opinion to consider, however. Instead of complaining about how the media focuses on information that you don't find important, why don't you complain about simply how they don't provide enough information on important topics and what those are.
I don't find it important? Are you trying to say that this is only my opinion when I say that there are more important things then royal baby? It may be most important thing for some people but in reality things like this are never the most important ones.
But that is basically what I'm doing. So what if I criticise the media for this? Is being critical bad?
Also when you call someone an ass try not to add passive-agressive remarks, you're going to sound like much less of a hypocrite.

Holy balls, it took me a fucking hour just to make this post with my phone and it's slow internet connection. I am never making post like this from my phone again.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it. The royal family is supposed to be an important symbol, so of course a new baby is probably going to be just as important as oh let's say, when Prince William was born? I am content with hearing about it, because instead of hearing constant bullshit in the news all the time, it's actually something positive. It's nice that people can be happy and come together for the birth of a baby.

I'm not going to lie half of what you said doesn't make sense to me. I'm not saying being critical in general is bad, but I'm saying you come off as being overcritical and if I say you're an ass that's how I've interpreted your comments because it's constantly negative and irritating. I'm not saying it soley to insult you, I legitimately feel like you should know how others are interpreting your comments. My remarks are not meant to be hateful. So when I'm criticising your constant over critical attitude, I'm saying that it's irritating and that in this specific case you're not just being critical about the media you're belittling the importance of the royal family. Which personally, I don't really care for them either but sometimes it's best to just keep the negativity to yourself especially in this case where you're belittling someone's culture and I see there's no need to.
