Scratch this shitty idea. We already have a way to mute people's microphones. What would really come in handy would be a chat mute.
Aah, you never thought about that eh! Always thinking about "halp halp micspammer!", that's why you have the bloody player list. But the only way to prevent people from flooding the chat, is the server way. But people can still talk a lot without necessarily flooding.
THAT is where the votemute comes in. It may not shut his microphone, but it will sure prevent him from writing. And a good thing would also be to make TWO different votemutes, e.g. votemute1 mutes the subject for 5 minutes, whereas votemute2 mutes it for 1 hour.

Oh my god, I just came.
Make this instead of that garbage being discussed here.

Stick to the shutting down mic plz, thats why you have a bloody votemute command.
And since when the hell was there a burst in chat-spammers if gmod manually limits chat messages sent every 2 seconds.

I'm pretty sure people will abuse this command >_>

No doubt about it

Only 60 percent of the voters clicked yes, whatever that maybe.
The argument I see is: The ability to globally mute a player 1 time, versus everyone who wants to mute having to manually mute the player.
My stance is still on the player list side. If they want to mute, it's a couple steps. Prevents the issue of players wanting to listen to the voice-muted player.
A chat mute is a different story, and I would need concrete examples as to why a mute must be created to stop someone from chatting.
